The Evil Within is a prime example of a game that is poorly optimized in general, with xbox and playstation users also reporting fps issues as well as myself; even though my laptop is well above the recommended specs. -
Anyone mentioned Star Citizen? Looks hype; but hey, for well over 30mill I could make burritos made out of carpet look hype.

Using a samsung 840 here as well and have encountered no problems. As for using your current HDD as an external you will need a sata to ide set. Multiple tutorials on this are available on the web.

Also running 8.1 after upgrading from 7, to 8, to 8.1 and have encountered no problems with command center. I noticed that windows 8 did decrease cpu temp a slight amount and the obvious benefit of the laptop booting up faster was very nice.
