I've had a 4 year warranty on some Dell systems. I requested a warranty extension online and had to answer a few questions by phone, but was able to do it. There were multiple machines and it was for a large corporation so risk vs reward for them might have been good enough to extend them. I know they will work on systems not under warranty for a price, but for only system under 5 years old. Anything under that and they won't touch it. As for laptops I have never been able to get anything but a 2 year warranty on batteries. They just accept the fact they will wear down after use.

I wasted decade of my youth playing EverQuest. Started playing college when it was released back in 99'. Played the rebooted Project99 server for a couple years. Still always a place in my heart for EQ even though I've played dozens of other MMOs.

I've got a Y500 and saw the exact same thing. There seem to be lots of reviews with this very problem. I fixed mine by removing the front keyboard and Touch Pad from the case. I did a little sanding on the plastic around the touchpad and haven't had an issue since.

I've came across this site while multiple Google Searches and figured it was time to register since I've seen it so much. Glad to be part of the community. 25 years IT experience in all areas. Sort of a Jack of all Trades type of IT person.
