  1. ohhhh thank you thank you!! okay so i'm at 2.07 so i'll be updating to 3.05 to mod it. i'll report back here what will happen when i do.
  2. hey all, So after trying to do this, thinking i have a 3.05 BIOS version, it turns out i have BIOS v3.7 so BIOSFixer could never do its work when i gave it bios.bin. I assume the OP wanted the bios.bin file right? well i have nothing but that as a dump so here it is. Attached is a BIN FILE and NOT a PDF file, i just made it pdf so it could get attached (perks of being a forum geek ) bios.bin.pdf
  3. (deleted because of duplication) i'm still new to the moderation system, sorry
  4. So if i understood this right, the brown wire controls the fan, and if it is disconnected it goes to 100% speed? Sent from my Nexus 4
  5. for other OSes you mean? so far it has been a pain making it dual boot because of UEFI/EFI, but if you don't mind formatting and switching to legacy mode it's all easy then Sent from my Nexus 4
  6. thanks a lot for the warning (was thinking of undervolting, not anymore) also if the battery is useless in terms of keeping the configs up, then what's its use now anyway? clock? Sent from my Nexus 4
  7. go to BIOS and enable legacy mode, priority should be legacy too, then save and turn the laptop off. after that press the recovery button, boot menu, then USB should appear in that list Sent from my Nexus 4
  8. getting a little paranoid, are we? with the laptop placed in a way it can suck air from the bottom, it won't cause any harm. i personally put it in a way that my feet are spread so that the bottom vent is open. also about phones in pockets... there's like a million wifi signals already passing through your brain and other body parts as we speak. Sent from my Nexus 4
  9. Hey all! So excited to be here (long time android user, first time laptop user). My question is, is there a way to "switch" the built-in windows OS to boot via legacy instead of UEFI/EFI? It makes it way easier for me to dual/multi boot instead of installing ubuntu, then use boot-repair (and about 3 hours of work) to make ubuntu switch to EFI. Thanks! PS: there might be some info online, but i might be "that blind guy that couldn't find it" so: - i have a y510p - I'm on "stock" windows 8 booting via EFI currently - i have ubuntu installed as a second OS - if UEFI is disabled, i can't even get to grub to choose an OS - i want to switch everything to legacy mode without formatting (I'd lose windows... don't want that) Sent from my Nexus 4
