  1. Thank you, I notice the difference now! Would it be possible to acquire the software you used to adjust the fan table? It seems to frequently switch between the lowest fan state and off (about every two seconds at certain temps), sounding a bit like a revving car. I think this might require a good bit of tuning work, which would go faster for me with the laptop in hand. Either way, thank you for your help, it's much improved over how it was!
  2. I did so, but the BIOS shows no change in the installed firmware...
  3. Bios Version..... E16GFIMS.61C EC Version..... 16GFEMS1 Ver5.09 ME FW Version..... 9.0.30.1482
  4. Okay! How do I do that? Is there a turorial somewhere? (As far as getting the firmware from my laptop, not so much posting it)
  5. Why not set the fan below 20%? I would like the fan to shut off when the computer's idle, it would save wasted power, reduce noise... My last 3 laptops were all capable of this! Why wouldn't the GE60 2PC be?
  6. You could try undervolting the processor and/or graphics card to reduce heat without impacting performance. Also, make sure that the minimum CPU speed is 5% or lower so as to minimize heat production when the computer's not under heavy use. I haven't found much effect by using a laptop cooler (one with a fan), though a general lapdesk can ensure the laptop's vents are clear and away from your clothing or skin. Try to avoid cleaning the screen, or touching it in general, as the GE60 screen is pretty thin, and any cleaning solutions can run into the corners of the display and ruin it. That said, a small amount of rubbing alcohol applied to a microfiber cloth can be effective at cleaning as long as you're careful. Finally, try to minimize the number of times you plug/unplug the laptop, as the battery's life is measured in cycles, and each time the battery starts being drained or charged, it counts as a cycle.
  7. Maximum PC interviewed a few MSI reps who said as long as there's no physical damage inside the laptop, the warranty's still good with a damaged sticker. I called MSI tech support and they said the same thing. They do it just to discourage people who don't know what they're doing from opening their laptop up.
  8. I have an MSI GE60 2PC Apache. My goal is to re-map the fan speed so it can shut off when the computer is at idle. It runs cooler than the human body, but the fan is still running...
