  1. Well I swapped laptop because I couldn't stand the resolution on this thing and my upgrade attempts were futile. I have this SSD in my acer v15 nitro black edition.
  2. I fail to see how a desoldered chip would make the 900p screen display incorrectly but the 768p screen display correctly.
  3. Using the y510p dual channel cable, the 900p screen will NOT work. I got the same issue as the single channel cable so i said screw it and I'm selling my y410p with a broken webcam cable and screen scratches because it's angering me.
  4. just curious, did you ever buy that cable and did the upgrade work?
  5. I already ordered a y510p dual channel lvds cable for like 35$ (cheapest i could find it). It brings me great joy to see that I can just buy a new camera cable. Thank you so much for all your help so far! Hopefully my cable gets here so i can start using my laptop as a laptop and not a desktop!
  6. I feel like it should just be plug and play. Also is theres a thin webcam cable I could purchase? Accidentally cut my old one
  7. Also would a plain old y510p cable work? aren't all of those dual channel? New VIQY1 DC02001KT00 LVDS Cable for Lenovo Y510P HD 1080p FHD LCD LVDS Cable | eBay
  8. So after i ordered y410 cables for the laptop and decided to just use the single channel... it doesn't connect to the motherboard. I'm honestly ready to break the laptop over my knee and laugh. All i really want is the screen and webcam to work. I need a factory new cable for this thing so I can sell it for 500 and buy something that doesn't suck.
  9. i tried your basic testing procedure before and my laptop does not boot. also you can't access the lvds connecter with the keyboard off.
  10. How do I attach the backlight connector to a cable like the one you linked? Also what about the webcam?
  11. This is the cable I bought and it seems like it will be a single channel cable due to the y410 being only 1280x800 display laptop. Kinda sad because i'm going to have a very hard time upgrading one of those cables to dual channel. :/
  12. If the cable I got is meant for the y410p with the 900p screen, will it be dual channel already? maybe i'll get lucky.
  13. So i ordered 2 extra lvds cables (with the webcam and backlight on them, replacement for the current cable that is not working). Plan to steal one of some of the pins from the old broke cable to upgrade one of the 2 new cables to dual channel and if it does not work I'll just be happy with my 768p screen or maybe sell the laptop.
  14. the new screen is this (EmberV on notebook review said he got that exact model number to work on this laptop). I will edit my post when i get off work and disassemble my laptop and tell you the 768p screen model number. thank you so much for your help and time! I also decided I'll try and splice in the extra cables or something. attached a photo of what the tag says on the 768p monitor. sorry I'm late.
  15. actually for some reason the laptop refuses to power on without the screws all done correctly. I accidentally took the screws form the keyboard and replaced them with the screws you start (the 8 long ones) and without all 8 longs screws the laptop wouldn't boot, Also can you find me a dual lvds cable that requires no splicing. that would be great!
  16. I'm completely lost. So if I get the dual channel lvds cable or add the pins myself the new screen works? Also now i have a new issue. The original 768p screen was giving me a backlight and now I get NOTHING. I also reseated the lvds cable at both ends after reassembling the laptop twice. 1st time i reassembled i reseated the motherboard side and got the cable back into the plastic cable guides (don't know how they got out). then i got a the backlight when i booted up. 2nd time i reassembled the laptop I got the screen connecter and reseated that and looked at the cable path, no obstructions or areas where the cable is being squeezed. No picture or backlight when i booted. I'm returning the 900p screen before I scratch it and the ebay seller refuses to take it back. Currently i believe the motherboard connecter end of the lvds cable may have a bent pin or something. I honestly have no clue why this is happening at this point. I think i will order a new lvds cable and be done with this whole shenanigan. Probably get a new 768p screen because the scratches from my flathead screw driver will drive me nuts. Recommendations on what i should do? I was debating selling the laptop after repairing it and getting a y510p for the 1080p and sli but I don't want to lose my m.2 ssd and I got such a good deal on this y410p. EDIT: would this cable work?
  17. Awesome! i'm debating getting a 512gb ssd and replacing the current 1tb hdd. for weight, heat, and power consumption, as well as speed.
  18. I figured out where the smaller screws went (the keyboard) and putting all screws in the correct places and she's alive! But on the original screen only the backlight works and it no longer displays and image (must be the video connector, I know this because it get dimmers as I dim it with the fn key and down). I'll probably order a new screen before disassembling the laptop again because it's a hassle and i'm just happy it works and I'm no longer stressed out about it. So I'll sit back with my external monitor for the time being. Thanks for the help though!
  19. So I recently tried to replace my Y410p 1366x768 screen with a 1600 x 900 model screen with the correct model number (EmberV mentioned it on Notebookreview forums and said it works but it didn't for me). After replacing the screen back to the original one I got no picture on boot (not even external monitor worked!). Disassembled laptop again and made sure everything was connected properly then I reassembled and somehow 2 of my screws got shorter and became extras! D: After that it no longer booted. Keyboard leds came on fans attempted to spin and power button led came on then it all went off after 2-4 seconds. Now I just disassembled it again to check for proper connections and make sure I did it right (still couldn't find where the screws went). Currently it won't even give me any leds, no power keyboard or even the charging led. It just doesn't respond to the lovo button or power button. Please help!
  20. I'm very excited for the 980m. I can't wait to see the extra mobile performance and what manufacturers will sell those laptops for.
  21. I'm a huge LOK fan. I was very saddened by it's move to online only. This shows deserves more justice.
  22. I would suggest the razer blade if you're looking for lighter but with great performance!
  23. I do not find the HD 4k monitors to be worth the trouble for the lack of scaling support in video games and programs.
  24. MyDigitalSSD 128GB (120GB) Super Boot Eco Drive 42mm SATA III 6G M.2 NGFF 2242 SSD Solid State Drive - MDM242-SBe-128, in my lenovo y410p AS SSD.
