I would also like to know if I can upgrade mine as there is not much on the new Alienware 14 , I would like to go from my GTX 765M to maybe a GTX 970M or GTX 980M (When it come out & considering the power / wattage and heat-sinks support it ), if not i can upgrade to the Alienware 17 as may friend has one and i can pay him the difference.

I have Windows 8 (it came with the laptop ) so nothing is on the Desktop but recycling bin and all the shortcuts are on Metro Start.

4K monitors are awesome 4K TV's not so good they tend to be large so it doesn't give you the detail you need so Yea go for it as long as your friends GPU supports 4K.

Your CPU only supports DDR3L @ 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz.

That's very true , i play Skyrim on my laptop (nVidia Experience set the graphics to ultra but AA on x4) with ENB and a number of 2k - 4k mods and i get great quality and frame rate. When you play Watch Dogs on 1080p i struggle to get 40fps on medium with no AA definitely the hardware.

The best GPU's on a budget are the AMD range (R9 270X with 2GB VRAM maybe) but if your Mind is set on nVidia go for the 760.
