  1. ram is generally backwards compatible as long as the socket and voltages are correct or matched. ie you can't use lvram and ram together
  2. aslong as they're setup for a dell (vbios) all you need is the sli cable and you should be fine. if you have issues with drivers make sure you switch to your onboard graphics and update the drivers for that and your chipset, then switch back to your nvidia cards and everything should be fine. i've had this problem a few times after loading windows.
  3. for day to day use the most noticeable upgrade would be an ssd swap if you don't have one. i'm running an xm processor and i can notice a difference between lvl 1 and lvl 4 overclocks
