  1. yes. i am a hardcore gamer... and for the moment i think i will leave the ram upgrade and focus in upgrading my gtx770m to an 780 or 880 gpu. But anyway thx for the reply.
  2. So I was thinking to upgrade my RAM memory for my Alienware Mx17 R4 and I saw a lot of memories with over 1600 mhz DDR 3 that i curently have (2x 4Gb Micron 1600mhz ddr3). My question is that will i have an improvment in performance if i Upgrade to 1866 mhz ddr3 or to 2133 mhz ddr3, and if will work on this laptop.
  3. Hi is it possible to look over this dell gtx 770m and do your best? Thx verry much in advance. GK106.zip
  4. Hi domycatlol, i personaly own an mx17 r4, i have upgraded the gpu from a dead gtx 675 to an gtx770 (the only gpu i could afford at that time), you will need for the job: 1. A new gpu, high end series 780, 880, 980, if you can afford, preferably with the x bracket in place if possible. keep in mind you will need a dell or clevo MXM board only. 2.Follow the guide from here to place and repaste your board. http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x-aw-17/197-m17x-r3-cpu-gpu-re-pasting-guide-w-pics.html 3 Follow the guide from here http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x-aw-17/5328-m17xr4-upgrade-gpu-gtx770m.html to learn how to unlock your bios to enable the gpu. 4.You will need the moded inf driver for your future gpu.
  5. Yes i think it work, and if i'm not mistaking here on the forum it's a special tread just for that:)
  6. The hardware it's ok. It beeps in the diagnosis tests, but after restart still no sound, the only solution i found it's to reset bios to default values and after remake the settings... - - - Updated - - - Ive got to say that this doesn't happen all the time, its pretty random, it's more often when i plug in the speakers and after headphones...
  7. I was wandering if an intel i7 4k series fits on a G2 mobo? I want to upgrade my I7 3k series with an 4k series...I own an Alienware Mx17 R4.

  9. if you have unlocked bios a11, then under the second Advanced tab you will have an optin like thermal platoform. enter there and the you will see the options for the gpu fan. unfortunately it has inly 2 options for the gpu fan speed (low (75 and max(100)) depnding on the temp that you select from underneath this options. Hope it helps you.
  10. ounds to me the same issues that i had with a dying gtx 675m, that means a gpu upgrade will be recomended. And dont belive i didnt tried nothing. i tried everything, reflow, reballing, until a guy from dell told me that is posible from usage and from the shortcircuits under the gpu (due to thermal cycling) that some tranzistors from the gpu to die. he said that is well known that a gpu will work( display image) even with over 20% of the tranzistors dead, but it will overheat and not perform well in 3d aplications(also dx 11 rendering) because it cannot make use of all its tranzistors and eventualy will fail for good because more and more tranzistors will die because of heavy using the other tranzistors to compensate the ones that are dead.
  11. u are very welcome. I too personaly did upgrade from a gtx675m to 770m and i unlocked the bios, not only for that but there are a lot on coll features that u can unlock including the c7 power states of the cpu, and also you can modify the values of the cooling fan for the gpu. i personaly keep it at low for 55 degrees celsius and at high for 65, and my gpu that way never reaches 70 degrees celsius in full load. hope it helps.
  12. thank for the replies guyz. so i will not worry anymore.
  13. reason for unlock was upgrading from a dying gtx 675m to a gtx 770m
  14. Yes I am preety sure it was after the bios unlock... I also did some research and found that a lot of users have this problem... and if its a mobo problem where can I get a new mobo? I dont have waranty anymore.
  15. After I upgraded to A11 unlocked bios the sound card is not recognized anymore in windows This problem is not all the time and is radomly occuring. I found a temporary solution and that is to revert to optimal settings / restart / and then do again all modifications for the PEG and everything /and restart again Its uncomfortable I was wondering if exists a permanent fix for this issue?
  16. Mx 17 R4 with i7 3610qm has around 50 degrees celsius idling Is this normal or its something wrong? Also recently changed the paste still same temperature... Are there any options in the bios to change the Cpu fan speed values depending on the temperature (how has the gpu) I have unlocked A11 bios version instaled
  17. Hello kieng... not even today I dont know if its realy necesary to have your bios unlocked for upgrading to gtx 770m gpu...but if it is necesary you will have to download the unlocked A11 bios from the formus + the tools to do that. Second: Revert to stock official A11 bios from Dell Third: folow the steps of installing safely the unlocked bios from here : http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x-aw-17/1964-%5Bm17x-r4%5D-unlocked-bios-versions.html

  19. 1 month ago bought an Alienware Mx17 R4 from someone... Gpu (gtx 675m) had failing issues and i change it with a gtx770 m. After i did the bios unlock A11 v2, and instaled moded inf for the gpu everything worked fine till the first shutdown, when in power on i hear the beeps from bios (nothing displayed), after another shutdown and restart it works fine but the bios is on default and again the primary gpu is 'SG" not PEG, and the IG is enabled again... Please help...is my bios batery fayling or waht?
