Hi. I was wondering if it's posible to enable Igpu on a clevo p870dm-g with sli gtx 970m. I understand that because of g-sync the Igpu does not work, but is there any way for it to be disabled in all day to day use (browsing, music, etc to use the intel gpu) and to be only enabled in full screen app's along side the gtx970m sli? thank you.

If you want to consider... I have a gtx780m if u want to swap and tell me how much difference in money u want.

When u stress the gpu, what is the last known temperature of it? Seem to me that u have an overheating problem or bad vram on the gpu card. Are you sure you instaled the card properly? (pads in the right way and thickness) and also how many pipes does your gpu sink has?

U can go as high as a 980m in the r4 but i would recommend a gtx780m (best power for the buck / 980m still to expensive in my opinion) Should not require a unlocked bios upgrade but you will need moded inf drivers.

Eurocom have nice prices as well and for EU they have a base in Germany as well so no import taxes.

the 980m works even on mx17 R4. So no problems with AW17 R1.

If the GPU is heating that doesn't mean that the GPU card is good. If it heats up - VRAM dead. If it does not heat up GPU chip is dead. Also do not forget that 7970 is a 100W rated gpu card so a 240w or more brick is required,

If the card is properly recognized u just need to mod the nvidia driver. (nvdmi.inf), after that disable driver signature enforcment from win8. Restart / install driver, and ur done.

Seems to me that u have a Ram problem. (either ram stick or ram slot). Try to boot only with one ram stick and interchange between the slots and the ram sticks, see if that helps. If u can boot with no problems with only ram stick it means u have a problem with the other ram stick or with the slot. See wich one is to blame (if its ram change it, if its the slot move the ram to the other 2 slots under the keyboard)

KCPTECH...i have a mx17 r4 and what aplyes for this aplyes for the aw 17 aswell...i did the 10cfm moding also and you are right with one thing. The heat dispersion is a little bit faster indeed but the 10cfm fan also have a more high pitch sound wich is very anoying after a while so it realy depends of the users...more heat dispersion over the louder fan.

Be very careful with Liquid Ultra as it is electric conductive.

D3nver... no version of the mx17 or aw17 have triple heatsink for the cpu, so its normal to have those temp in full load... i have a 3920mx in my mx17r4 and it's stock clock and idles in 50 C and full load is aprox 87-90 max... I do hope our colegues from tech inferno or other alienware 17 entusiasts will find a solution for us (a triple pipe mod for aw17 laptops). And the paste that i use is Arctic Mx2.

It's all about overclock.... the mx like the xm's before them has unlocked multiplier, that means you can overclock the cpu with ease and no aftermarket programs ( just from bios, mx enabled). So depends on you, if you are a benchmarker definatly the mx is for you, if you are a regular user / gamer dont waste money grab the mq, because even for simulators the 4900mq if enogh, but you know better.

shows no dedicated gpu or it's say standard vga adapter? if the gpu its shown in bios then you dont have to worry, you just need moded inf file so you can install your drivers...search in the forum for modified inf for the 780 / replace the inf in the specified driver version of nvidia, install driver and that's it.

From what i know Mx17 r4 has some limitations in terms of Ram. 32 Gb for 1600 Mhz 16 Gb for 1866 Mhz 8 Gb for 2133 Mhz Someone corect me if i'm wrong, but if not wrong this is your problem.

The mx18 sink does not fit on mx17... any other ideas?
