  1. No it cannot, IGPU is diconected at a harware level.
  2. I dont think it's a custom vbios, from my knowledge custom vbioses ends with a "C", this one end with a "D", drom what i can tell it's a stock vbios.
  3. Best wifi for you is this intel 7260ac if you want to keep the mini pci-express, if you have an m.2. pci express slot you can go with intel 8260 ac.
  4. All good m8, you'l be fine, just assimilate as much information as you can on bios flashing, mx18 r2 upgrading, thermal paste, setting windows to boot on uefi. As always formus like this and youtube tutorials are a good place to start.
  5. 1. Bios update on the alienware mx18 r2 is preety straight forward and safe. You can read more about it here. The ideea with the unlocked bios is not for overclocking (in your case), is for aditional hardware (CPU and GPU) support and stability tweaks. It just need to be instaled, nobody forces u to mess with it and/or overclock anything. 2. Unified Extensible Firmware Interface(UEFI) is the successor to BIOS. You can read more about it here. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-UEFI-and-Legacy-Mode-which-we-need-to-choose-while-installing-the-OS 3. Do not wory about throttling issues, the MX18 cooling sistem was designed for 680m wich is roughly the same TDP as 980m, as for the cpu,you more than sure have the 3 heatpipe cooler so you'l be fine if you use a good thermal paste (ICD7 / Grizly Kryonaut) PS: 2x 8GB VRAM GPU in Sli is not 16GB VRAM, is still 8, because SLI (more exactly AFR work by mirroring the VRAM content from 1 gpu to the other, the advantage is that they actualy process that information almost 2 times faster) but as I said in the post before, 8GB VRAM is more than enough for FHD for years to come.
  6. First, flash the latest unlocked bios for your model, I think it was A11 Unlocked, after that you can try, it might work.
  7. Thats Razor Cult 4 you. Pay the money for BGA, and pls pay more money to be able to game on it. Have fun. You are not alone, Apple does the same thing.
  8. It depends on you fanboy-ism, top end Clevo and MSI laptops comes with upgradable graphics.(they'r own proprietary form factors of course) Ps: Clevo and Sager are one and the same thing, Sager beeing a Clevo resseler. My best advice for you, upgrade your current laptop to a I7 3940xm cpu, and 2X Gtx 980m in SLI instead of you 660m's and youre good to go, still good for more than couple of years on FHD. (will still be cheaper than a new top end Clevo or MSI) but this is only my advice do as you see fit. Cheers.
  9. It works, thx and please keep us updated when you add more features to this bioses, or any other tweaks or fixes.
  10. Just flashed your bios and I can confirm it works, no errors, no boot fails, no heart atack(thx for that), the one ting I couldn't work out it is that it does not keep the fast boot option to enable, it always goes disable after restart (booting on pure Uefi from samsung nvme drive formated as GPT)
  11. I have a Clevo P870DM-G with bios version 1.05.07TCPS and EC 1.05.03. Will it be ok to flash your bios like this? Or do I need and updated EC?
  12. That's briliant, yet again thank you again and I think it's a big thx in the name of the comunity aswel, you deserve a big thx from all the Clevo DM/KM users who did not had the posibility to buy from a Prema partner resseler. One thing puzzless me, most of the bios upgrades on this models ive seen comes with a EC/BLK also, does your bios dont need one, or it works on the stock EC/BLK? Sorry for so many questions but I am just cautios to not brick my machine. THX
  13. First of all thx for the great work and for sharing these bioses with the comunity but can u be more precise of what actualy this bios contains and what is actualy unlocked? And what are the diference between your bios and Prema's for example. Can u elaborate the cangelogs and the modifications a little bit, I am sure the comunity will apreciate it. Tahnk you again for the hard work.
  14. I am just thinking that maybe a harware mod actualy exist to enable sli on these cards. Why would Ngreedia be so greedy to take away one of the best SLI solutions that would have existed for Clevo P870DM users.
  15. 1 - Make sure you unplug all SATA and USB drives, the M.2 drive has to be the only drive installed.2 - Go into the bios, under the boot tab there is an option for CSM, make sure it is disabled.3 - Click on secure boot option below and make sure it is set to other OS, Not windows UEFI.4 - Click on key management and clear secure boot keys.5 - Insert a USB memory stick with a UEFI bootable iso of Windows 10 on it, USB3 is quicker but USB2 works also. A Windows DVD won’t work unless you’ve created your own UEFI Bootable DVD.6 - Press F10 to save, exit and reboot.7 - Windows will now start installing to your NVME drive as it has its own NVME driver built in, I don't think this would work with previous versions.8 - When the PC reboots hit F2 to go back into the BIOS, you will see under boot priority that windows boot manager now lists your NVME drive.9 - Click on secure boot again but now set it to WIndows UEFI mode.10 - Click on key management and install default secure boot keys11 - Press F10 to save and exit and windows will finish the install.Once you have Windows up and running, shutdown the PC and reconnect your other SATA drives. Do not put anything on SATA port 1 as this is now reserved for the NVME drive.I would also recommend installing the Samsung NVME driver at this point to replace the Windows one.The background here is NVME SSDs do not appear within the BIOS until Windows creates the system partition with the EFI Boot Sector.Your M.2 SSD contains UEFI driver information within the firmware. By disabling the CSM module Windows will read and utilize the M.2-specific UEFI driver. If this does not work, make a bootable usb with this ISO http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools.html Boot from it, instal the firmware and after that windows installer will see you drive.
  16. so thats one answer. one thing puzzels me, why does your gpu has only 4gb of vram when it's supposed to have 6?
  17. Most likely a sli footprint, the trace numbers are ok, position also.
  18. Thx for the reply, it's obvious that the card does not support sli at base, but I was wandering what it will happen if one soldered a sli bridge to the 1060 if someone tried it. I have a couple of dead 680's from an old clevo and I want to know if it is worth to buy 2 1060's for a diy project.
  19. I was wandering what will hapen if one soldered a sli conector to a gtx 1060 laptop gpu. Will the sli work or it will just not post anymore?
  20. How does 2x 980 180w clevo sli cards will go in p870dm-g. Phisicaly can fit, got the power conectors on the mobo, maybe some copper plates soldered on the existing sinks to acomodate the lenght of the cards and cool the extra mosfets on the back, and an extra 330w power supply of course?
  21. Too bad because of suckers like this the rest of us are punished. We the rest still respect you Prema for all your hard work, I just hope you will change your mind sometime in the future, do not let you be affected of what one idiot did and punish the rest for one's mistake. All the best.
  22. I understand. Thank you guys for the input. +rep.
  23. I had an Alienware Mx17 R4 and that indeed had Optimus (even though alot of people prefered to put the vga mode on PEG), Optimus was realy helpfull in terms of batery economy and leting the dGpu breathe when only browsing was envolved for example. For the Alienware was easy once u had the unlocked bios on it (credits to svl7) and I thought that it would be the same for the p870dm-g (just set the VGA mode in bios). Too bad I bought this laptop from UK and cannot have access yet to the unlocked Prema bios for this machine :(. (hope soon ) If it is any solution to the Igpu disabling please someone share it with us. I would realy like Optimus on Clevo P870dm-g
