I'm planning my new rig and was waiting for the GTX 1070, but pricing in € is just ridiculous. I will wait a few weeks for tests of custom designs and watch if the prices will drop after AMD Polaris is released. Nonetheless there are any reliable tests of Polaris atm, I'm considering a Crossfire platform of two r9 480/480x or higher. I'm a fan of Nvidia and thought I would never buy AMD, but the additions (also for g-sync monitors compared to f-sync), if there is no benefit in performance, let me think of switching sides and invest the saved euros in an PCIe SSD or whatever... maybe some beers ;-).

Thx for your reply... But I've a weird problem with my MSI GT680. I've buyed a used NVIDIA Geforce GTX 770M pulled from MSI Laptop from Mokkin. But I've a strange problem. The card is running at VGA Mode in Windows 7 64bit. As you can see GPUZ is showing that the firmware is 80.06.46.00.01. I expected firmware 80.06.54.00.11. When i tried to search for a driver on NVIDIA.com, it recommends pls go for driver from subvendor. So i tried to flash via usb nvflash the 80.06.54.00.11 Bios, but there is a failure " No NVIDIA display adapter found". With NVflash --list it's the same. Why doesn't nvflash find the adapter? Perhaps it is a Bios problem... my version is 3.0Z? Sreenshots and VBIOS https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5y1u1te1kwc6w9b/AABUWXZvtD9lg5Y8oxccJdh1a?dl=0 edit: I'm a little more confused now... because subvendor 1008 is EPSON (http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendors.php?sort=id) and not MSI? Is there a chance to get it work in my laptop or should i try to change the card? edit: ok i'm near to solve this... it depends on the version of nvflash... 5.117 is to old but detects the card, 5.165 doesn't work at all last edit :-))) nvflash 5.136 works.

A friend has told me about Kerbal Space Program... Though it's an alpha (steam 25€, ebay ~12€) it's worth it. I've played hours after hours and it still fascinates me because of its ingame possibilities. Look at the mods, they are incredible.

I use vSync and triple-buffering. Combined it's the most efficient way for me. Though triple-buffering reduces the available vRAM for textures, it should'nt be a problem in most games. Btw if so. is interested, Nyquist-Shannon can be worth a search for all who are addicted to high FPS ;-)

Hi, ok this threat seems to be dead, but i think it is the right one to ask a few questions... I'm having trouble with the GTX 460M in my GT680R. A few weeks ago it shut down my laptop randomly because of VRAM overheating. After I replaced the thermal paste and thermal pads it worked a while... but now i think it is dead. Standard VGA-Mode is working but Nvidia drivers don't. Windows TDR is responding and the monitor freezes. Sometimes there are pixel errors/artefacts. I decided to order a green MSI GTX 770M from Mokkin to replace my card. I also ordered a suitable heatsink. I'm new to OC, so I have a few questions. First regarding replacement, second regarding OC... 1. I have a 150W power supply. TDP of GTX460M is 72W of GTX 770M it is 75W. Will i need to replace it with a 180W power supply? 2. Do I need to flash unlocked BIOS? ....I'm on the last version from MSI 3.0Z 3. Does EC-Firmware needs to be changed? ... Also last MSI version 4.24 4. If the card doesn't work, can I flash modded vBIOS or will I need to change it to a Clevo card and flash vBIOS? 5. I'm using VGA OC Tool from NVIDIA and Systemcontrolmanager from MSI. 6. Will I have to replace OC Tool with GPU Boost 2.0 from NVIDIA and is it possible to continue using of SCM? Which ways can I go to OC? MSI Afterburner? Throttlecontrol for CPU etc... What are the benefits? Is it useful for me? I'm mostly playing WOT and KSP. My intention is to have a stable, simply usage of the Laptop... I dont want to change settings every time I need to.

My Gt680 is 3 years old, and it was worth any penny on the whole. But as many others mentioned it is hard to get updates for drivers from msi. Furthermore I had one case of warranty last year. It took four weeks to get my laptop back and in addition my email account was hacked after this, though i had my password for about 9 years without problems... I dont know if theyre paying their staff as well as they should?!?!?
