How you guys can play any games with undervolted GPU. I tried to undervolt both GPU-s -87.5mV and game crashes every time. I am talking about GTA V.
Every chips isn't created perfectly equal. Some chips may require higher minimum voltage than others to stay stable.
It seem your chip can't handle -87.5mV UV so you'll want to give it more voltage maybe something like -50mV will do then test whether it's stable.
If it is then you may try lower it a bit more and retest but if it's not you will want to increase voltage and retest.

That's normal. There's nothing wrong.
Since the internal gpu vbios is attached to modded bios so you only need nvflash for flashing ultrabay gpu vbios.

I undervolt my i5 with intel XTU on laptop, however i use dynamic cpu voltage offset setting, not core voltage setting, and i have it set to -99.6mV and everything runs smooth under heavy cpu usage, and temps are rougly 10° less than with no undervolting. Only small thing that bothers me with XTU that if somehow the computer doesnt shut down corectly, at next boot up the undervolt values are not set, so you have to save a profile 1st, and then go to profile tab next time, click on a profile, click show values, and last on the right side click yellow apply button. Think this is still the better alternative to undervolting in bios and possibly not being able to boot up again becaouse of not enough voltage on cpu
That is by design. Because "the computer doesnt shut down correctly" thing can cause by unstable undervolt/overclock, so program intentionally reset the value to prevent the computer from lock up and failed boot.

Have you try remove the second graphic card?
Removing 2nd gpu will enable intel integrated graphic and your laptop will switch from nvidia card to igpu for displaying. Then reset your bios setting if this work.

I failing on step (2).
Whenever I try to drag my bios.bin into Bios_Fixer2.0.exe nothing happens. The app just opens and tells me to be careful etc.
There is no modified .bin file that is made after doing this. In addition to that there is no 'unlock' option when right clicking the Bios Fixer.exe and selecting 'Properties'
Literally nothing happens when I try and drag .bin file onto the Bios Fixer.exe.
I've tried running as admin, disabling UAC. Basically everything.
I paid for a membership to this forum so I could download files because it seemed like it would take forever to get a mod to approve my posts and because I am impatient.
Now I have spent the last 2 hours basically wasting my time as it seems I cannot progress past this step. Other people seem to be having success. How the heck are you people getting past this step?
My back is killing me from leaning over this laptop and I feel like burning down a Lenovo factory at this point. I just want this proceedure over and done with.
Why is Bios_Fixer2.0.exe not making me the modified BIOS file?
P.S. Yes I did already update to version 3.05 from the official Lenovo website, before doing the backup via the backup.bat.
Open bios fixer program first, then drag bios.bin on the opened bios fixer program windows not on the .exe files.

Because your old Gt620m is low end graphic card with tdp of 16 watt (About the same as intel hd 4600 in haswell) compare to 2xgt755m which has tdp of 100 watt (50×2) that around 6 times more power hungry than gt620m.

Not possible(at least, no one figure it out yet.) But, even if it's possible, your battery will likely die and your laptop will shut off due to the lack of power.

Hey guy, I think, I've found option in bios that stop cpu from throttling when gpu temp reach 65 degrees. It's ACPI 5.0 CPPC Support and ACPI 5.0 CPPC Platform SCI in Advanced CPU Control under Power tab in Modded Bios. I heard it was cpu powersaving feature in Haswell so I enabled them and install this driver (Intel Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit) - ThinkPad - Lenovo Support (US)).
Then today I ran Heaven Benchmark and gpu temp had gone high(75 degrees and 85 degrees) but to my surprise I monitor my cpu using XTU and saw that cpu still turbo boosting and doesn't throttle.
About the CPU performance: When driver was installed there is new option in windows power option called Intel CPPC Energy Efficiency Settings. You can enable or disable it (Default are "Enabled" on battery and "Disabled" when plugged in). I leave it at default setting.

That is very in-correct my friend, I've got 4 slots, I've checked using CPU-Z & Asked the retailer, So for me it supports up to 32Gb.
CPU-Z always show 4 slot memory even though there are just 2 slot. The only way to check is open up the bottom cover to see.
Your laptop probably have only 2 slot too.

I think that for the fair comparison, both should use the same driver version.
In this case Lenovo driver is older v.327.62 while nvidia driver is newer v.344.11

Wanna add this, so people don't misunderstand that undervolt make laptop brick but it's undervolt in BIOS that brick it.
Undervolting CPU in "BIOS" does brick the laptop but undervolt using "Intel XTU" or "Throttlestop" is perfectly fine.

My Y510P became like this when I disassembled it to repaste cpu.
You can try the method from this link since this work for me.

thx, thats works. Now i have modded bios
but one more problem, i still cannot boot my y510p with secound GF. My primary is 755 and sli 750. With both of them i cannot boot, i have blackscreen, without bios, only keyboarl lid, pover button lid and black screen.
SLI require both graphic cards to be the same model and modded bios won't help with that.

Hello everybody,
I have problem. When i plug out DC jack from my y500, gpu underclocks down to 135Mhz even if i set High performance. I sometimes want to play a game on battery, but almost any game is lagging due this problem.
Thank you for your help.
Vratislav Rusz
It's normal.
Battery can't provide enough power to GPU so GPU down clock itself by default when you're on battery and if you force the GPU to run at full speed on battery, it's likely that you notebook will shut off or your battery will be fried or explode.
Well if you want to force it. I used to see someone post that you can use nvidia inspector to force it.
-
Just to confirm something. Since a lot of people tend to make the mistake about this.
Is your memory DDR3L one? DDR3L is the one with 1.35v not DDR3 which is 1.5v. Since y510p with haswell cpu can only use DDR3L one. If you use ddr3 one on y510p, it will cause instability since notebook can't provide enough voltage to ram.

So just to clarify, this mod is perfectly safe at the moment, as long as you dont overclock/undervolt?!?!?!
As long as you don't OC/UV in BIOS.
It is safe to use software in windows to OC/UV CPU and GPU such as Intel XTU(CPU&iGPU), Thottlestop(CPU), nvidia inspector(dGPU) etc.

what steps did you do to reset the bios? i still have my y510p so i can give it a try. also how much did you undervolt by?
Thanks for the help, ill replace my ssd, backup the drives and then wipe them.
I repeatly press F2 immediately after power on notebook to enter bios.
Then press F9("setup default" in bios option) and enter (to confirm)
then F10 ("save and exit") and enter(to confirm)
I undervolt cpu by -80mv since it is the lowest I can do with Intel XTU.
Well this was done with nothing show up on the display so I am not sure whether it does something. I just tried it with some hope.
-
Well, I think I am a lucky one here maybe. I used to undervolt CPU in bios too and my y510p also won't boot either. Due to a (little) panic, I shutdown the notebook and try to do something like enter the bios and reset bios but with black screen. But my notebook still won't boot, so I just leave my laptop on for a while and after a few time my laptop trying to reboot by itself (power light off and on), my laptop boot up successfully with bios setting back to default. It seem to fix itself but I don't actually know what fix it.
Hope it help someone.
-
Because Y510p with haswell cpu need DDR3L ram which is 1.35v not DDR3 which is 1.5v or else your ram might not getting enough power and fail.

Is there a way to increase processor current limit?
I tried changing the pri plane current limit in bios but nothing actually change. My 4700mq still run into current limit throttling.
Did I do something wrong?
Also what XTU option can be unlocked and how?
Can I unlocked the reference clock option? It appear in XTU but greyed out.
I'm on modded bios v3.05
Thx!

I also got max of 103Hz on my Y510p with glossy screen. According to HWiNFO my monitor is LP156WF1-TLC2.
But at 103Hz I see a little flickering(almost none) so I now keep it at 100Hz. At 104Hz and above, display will turn black and my laptop will freeze.
Edit: Now I'm back to 75Hz since I start to notice some artifact(scan lines).

Did you perhaps noticed any FPS changes or stability issues or something? Or its basically the same as the previous version?
To be honest, I don't see any difference from previous version.

Set/enable UEFI boot instead of Legacy

340.52 is out. I heard that with it you cannot change voltage.. Have anyone tried it yet?
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/340.52/340.52-win8-win7-notebook-release-notes.pdf
I'm on the latest Nvidia driver and have modded bios/vbios flashed on my y510p and I can confirm that I still can change the voltage with Nvidia Inspector. If you have inspector running when installing new driver, after driver have been installed the voltage option will grayed out but I fixed mine by just close inspector and reopen it

Windows 10 work fine here I've used it since the first preview.
1) Never have this problem just make sure you get the latest driver from Nvidia for SLI y510p
2) Wifi work fine here but my chip is Atheros not Intel. So I don't know about Intel chip problem.
3) Lenovo support apps : don't know about this app. I've never used or seen it.
4) BSOD : Rarely have one. Most BSOD happened by bad driver(outdate or bad installation) so try finding the latest driver for the hardware from hw manufacturer such as from Nvidia site for nvidia gpu
Also I don't know why Lenovo doesn't support Y510P for windows 10. They even support the older y500.
Also if you want to find some windows 10 drivers for y510p, you can look at y500 windows 10 drivers on Lenovo site. Most windows 10 drivers for y500 actually list y510p as support! and I install it with no problem.
