  1. Okay so first of all, thanks for all the help I've been given so far, I'm fairly new to the scene and these forums have helped me out a lot. I've reached a bit of a problem with my graphics card, which I should have expected really, but anyways - Before installing the modified vbios I read a thread that says the gtx 880m throttles if it crashes too many times. I took this information too lightly, and by that I thought "It wouldn't happen to me" and well... it has. I thought it wouldn't happen because I thought the 'flag' was caused by the stock vbois, and I stupidly assumed that the modified vbios would remove this 'feature'. I tried reverting to older drivers, and this seemed to work great - getting 1000MHz clock speeds no problem, but after restarting my computer I found that the clocks were stuck at 135MHz again... This all started last right after what seems like one too many crashes on my videocard. I've not been able to find any fixes for this. I admit I shouldn't have really been overclocking since this was my first time messing around with it, but I didn't exactly do anything extreme... 83C max temps @ stock voltage and +50 clock speed. I've not exactly been pushing the boundaries... Any ideas because nowhere seems to have gave any ideas as to whether its repairable... Driver re-install is only a temporary fix it seems. Is RMA my only option and will I get away with that with a modded vbios? Thanks again
  2. Also, Sorry to post another question here, I just find it better than making hundreds of threads (: I've installed a vBios mod for the 880m, and it's all great! the pwr throttling mentioned above is all gone! But I do have one question, and I don't know whether it would be better posting here (since it's a clevo related problem) or in the vBios thread.. but anyways - I've done a mild overclock of +62MHz core and +157MHz Memory, while still keeping at stock voltage, and when gaming my temps rise slowly to 90C, at which point the GPU fan turns up to max and the temps drop to 82C again... 82C is perfectly great, but 90C is a bit high for me... My question is, are there any ways to force the GPU fan to max out at 82C rather than 90C? It seems pointless having it max at 90 only to drop again... I've tried speedfan and HWmonitor but neither CPU or GPU fan shows up :/ Is this a vBios issue or a clevo/bios issue?
  3. Thanks Prema, If it means anything I think I found out my original problem. I had my bios set to "legacy" mode, so I could reach safemode with F8 (I found it really stupid that I had to be able to access windows before I could restart in safemode) But after searching google further I found that legacy mode is causing people to be unable to access Bios at post... So now I have a choice of no BIOS access at startup, or no Safemode access at startup... hmm.. So it was completely unrelated to your mod anyways, just a coincidence
  4. Is it possible to get 1 pin/standard connectors or adapters for a 230W power brick? I've only got a single pin connector and it seems all psu's over 200W use the 4 pin connector. Was wondering if any manufacturers do single pins for higher powers since 230W -shouldn't- be too dangerous through a single pin jack... if not does anyone know of any 4-pin to 1-pin adapters/mods?
  5. Just to be sure, the vBios is completely seperate from the Bios correct? I ask because I am new to this scene, and Im looking to fix annoying throttling problems and undervolt rather than do any serious oc. If I've installed Prema Mod, can I still install the vBios without problems? Sorry for the newbie question, we all gotta start somewhere
  6. ^ This, I've got an 17-4810qm w/ gtx 880m, using a 180W psu, I think stock clocks already push the boundaries a bit - 122W + 43W gives 15W for the screen and all other stuff... obviously I never reach 122W, it throttles well before then.
  7. This hasn't really gone anywhere and it's not really a big deal for now but I do have another unrelated question, I have the GTX 880m , and with the stock vbios I'm not reaching anywhere near the advertised clock speeds... nvidiaInspector says I'm getting a max core clock of 875MHz, and GPU-Z says "perfcap - Pwr". I bought this laptop from PC Specialists with a 180W psu, but surely they would have taken the power supply into account when they bundled it with an 880m laptop?!
  8. running windows 8.1, after installing prema mod (everything works fine) ive been unable to access the uefi bios with F2 at startup, before I installed the mod I could get to it this way :/ Now I have to use shift/restart from within windows to access the bios... It's no biggie but if my os ever dies I'll have no way of getting into the bios to fix it :S Any ideas of settings which might have been changed to cause this? thanks (:
