No the power issues are due to BIOS total power draw throttle code...also careful with randomly swapping modules without fixing dependencies and also porting board specific code.

Boards are different (voltages, layout etc) and what may work for some time may damage the board in the long run...

    Prema see your PM :)

Seriously, you should make UV versions of your Maxwell vBIOSs :)

  2. Hi Prema!

    Well I have a problem , I ordered a P771DM -G except that the G -Sync is not working.

The reason is that I have a 970M with 13D8 ID and only then 970M with ID 1618 on for the G- Sync. What should I do ? A VBIOS update may change the ID of my graphic card to spend in 1618 ?

You will need a new GSync version of the GPU.. There are slight hardware changes between the 2 versions, well a resistor actually... So talk to your reseller..

  3. hi, setting it higher doesn't solve it :/ i've also tried to set all to max in xtu , no matter what settings i use same thing happens as without any overclock:(

Increase processor ICC max and give that a shot... Also in XTU, add a graph or a number in side pane for thermal, current or power throttling and monitor that...

  4. Because the ID of the Alienware machines are not inserted in many of today's drives ... at least with the GTX780 NO nvdmi.inf I had my ID ... by manually entering all the drives worked ... can not be the case with colleague above, but I'm trying to give the solution that I managed ...

Could you give me a help with my gtx 780m? I am using overclocked to control the temperature, there is a better way to achieve this?

Fergus for the love of god, don't overclock... You are increasing temps.. How many times to tell you?

Also when are you getting Gelid GC Extreme?

  5. Goodnight everyone, now applied the AS5 folder (still can not get the gelid, but I'll buy) and my 104C CPU dropped to 65C ... great! My FPS Borderlands not go down under 55 with ALL the ultra inclusive Physix in High ...

I thank the attention of everyone here!

I'm just my GPU does not yet satifsfeito is with 84C (all in ultra) ... now I wonder, should I use overclocking to improve? which recommend?

Fergus stop overclocking... You will burn out your GPU... Have you applied new paste to GPU? If so temps are too high still.. Have you bought Gelid yet? Get some new thermal pads for GPU..

  6. Thanks for the quick response, good, come on ...

This print was using the machine normally without using overclocking, but I'm already using it open at the bottom with a 20.000RPM cooler focused on the GPU, reducing at least 10C ... I ordered to Article 5 silver for maintenance ... I'm using the wrong note in time to avoid damage.

I've done all the cleaning, lacking only the folder ... only think that would solve the heating problem and fall of FPS? I have done almost everything ...

The temps are too high.. Arctic silver 5 is old and junk nowadays... What other pastes can you get?

  7. Hi TomJGX!, The following image my machine without overclocking playing for 5m borderland2 in ultra ... I know there's something wrong but do not know how to solve = (

Overclocked can maintain 65C, yet falls too FPS from 60 to 10fps ... I'm running out of ideas how to solve ...

According to the images, CPU is throttling due to high temps and so is the GPU... 90C++ isn't safe.. I would firstly stop overclocking..

2nd thing to do is remove the bottom cover, clean fans and remove dust and then repaste your GPU and CPU with some good thermal paste... Use something like IC Diamond or Gelid GC Extreme...

I wouldn't overclock your GPU, you will burn it out... Prop up the back of your laptop with some books or something as a temporary solution but do the repaste...

no OV, cards hardly reach 70C.

Dude do a FS run... Also that Physics score is atrocious.. Is your 4910MQ throttling? Even my 3630QM can get a higher score...

Where did you get your laptop from? Was it from a UK reseller like Scan, XMG, PCS Specialist? If you did, ask your reseller first... Otherwise, I'd suggest looking at CEG Extreme... a German reseller... They should be able to sell you a motherboard without making a fuss like the UK resellers.. They're also quite cheap... got my P771ZM from them! Fastest way to contact them is through Facebook message.. search for Clevo Notebooks and it's got a German address and it's them..

  12. So how come nobody has made a 980m vbios with "baked in" overclocks??? Is it not possible to do??? The 980m is capable of so much more than the unlocked rev 0 bios! If we were able to overclock the vbios we wouldn't have to worry about stupid NVIDIA disabling overclocking!!!

That is precisely why we have an unlocked vBIOS... NVIDIA have limited OCing but with this vBIOS no such problems..

  13. Hey all, Is it safe to install this on my laptop? I'm running Windows 7. I've read some scary things... or is that just with windows 10? Please let me know. Thanks

I wouldn't install on either OS's.. Hold off on 353.00/.06 for now IMO..

  14. @J95 can you please share BIOS settings for removing motherboard power limit since I now have unlocked BIOS

@J95 as I have been also asking in my PM's, how did you successfully get past the TDP limit in the end? I have tried various combinations of things in this thread however it would be really helpful for me and other owners if you could get together a list of things that need to be done to get past it, like BIOS settings etc...

I have disabled MSR lock, remove the TDP lock and tried various combinations of settings however this isn't getting anywhere.. As on my thread in NBR, the minute I start the XTU stress test, the power limit gets hit in like 5 secs and clocks throttle from 4.3Ghz on 4 cores to 3.8GHz...

My Firestrike Physics score is 10950 is latest bench, which is the highest ever for me however if there is anymore that can be eeked out, do let me know!

    Thanks,

    Tom

Edit: I have got this showing in the BIOS.. Turbo power limit registers are not matching... This seems to be the problem for me... Any suggestions?

  15. Unlocked BIOS installed... Just doing rest of steps :)

    @J95... :P

Edit: I have installed everything however J95 2 points,

    1. I don't want to mess around with Creative drivers... I don't have any of those chipset issues and don't want that so I'll stick to old drivers (I have the latest ones on AW website).. do the new drivers actually make any difference?

    2. I still have CPU TDP throttle... What settings should I set in the BIOS to prevent this? I have BD PRODCT disabled along with MSR... Maybe Mr. Fox can also help?
