Building a gaming desktop is almost always cheaper than a gaming laptop. Building a desktop allows you to pick the exact parts, manufactures and architectures you like. You can shop multiple sites for the best deals as well. On top of that, desktop CPU's run faster and if you pick wisely you have more options for upgrades down the line. (RAM / CPU / SLI or XFire). Cooling in a desktop is also easier, so you have more overclocking ability too. At the end of the day. if you're in need of a laptop due to travel then buy one,there are a lot of nice options. But if you're looking to buy a laptop as a gaming desktop replacement, you'll end up spend more money for a less powerful machine if you go that route.

Hey guys, quick question for you all, do any of you have experience with the GIGABYTE P34Gv2? The wife has opted to pick one up as an ultraportible gaming laptop as she travels a lot. I found the size to power ratio to be quite impressive and it looked like a nice midway point between say a Y40 and the new Razor Blade. My only concern is that I've never had any experience with Gigabyte as laptop manufacture, so I figured I'd ask for some opinions. Specs on the laptop are: 14.0" FHD (16:9) Anti-Glare Matte-Type Screen (1920x1080) 4th Generation Intel® Mobile Core i7-4710HQ Haswell Processor Intel® HM87 Chipset 128GB mSATA SSD NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 860M GDDR5 (4.0GB) w/ Optimus™ Technology 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 13.4 x 9.4 3.5 lbs

I really like this laptop bag, but sadly my Y500 doesn't fit in it, works well for my smaller work laptop though.

Okay I was bored so I tried it out briefly. Running videos that were locally on my phone I was able to display them on my TV with minimal lag. The app also detects other network devices, I was able to connect to my NAS but I was not able to get the videos to stream at all. I might have been impatient or there may be settings need to adjust to get that feature working. But to answer your question, locally I was able to stream video from my phone to Chromecast using the app.

I've not gotten around to trying it, but supposedly the app "All Cast" allows this feature.
