At stock clock, my gpu hardly reach 80c, it reach that temperature only gaming demanding games like Crysis 3 and Watch Dogs.

I can manage my 870m at 86c~87c with a base cooler and fn+1, i think it safe. Core Clock 1100, Memory 3000 and v1.050. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7 4900MQ,Notebook P15SM-A/SM1-A

I dont think so that you can run recent games on "ultra" in this resolution even with an overclocked 870m at max, Phase, but it should run fines at high settings

GTX 870M is about 30% much faster than 770m. Not a rebranded.
