  1. Thumper is in the zone Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  2. the heat transfer is mediated by water though, which in itself has a much larger capacity to take on and transfer heat than air. thus, u can transfer and store way more heat in the fluid itself and draw it away from the components until it reaches the radiator. id still expect quite a significant temp improvement even if the radiator in the water cooling has the same heat capacity / transfer capability as in the previous air cooling solution.
  3. by ur argument any water cooling solution would be utterly useless and wouldnt bring any temp advantages to the table, that is just plain wrong though Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  4. @Kommando: u can easily make profiles to switch between settings in nvidia inspector.....been using it ever since i got my machine Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  5. busy man as always Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  6. [emoji14] the desktop cpu is indeed tricky to repaste and compare values of different jobs with, since the ihs area is so large. but on the gpu side the paste jobs are very consistent with the dot method and same type of paste. thats why i meant that exchanging the pads had quite a significant impact in my case... 7. unlikely that im ever gonna reach that temp, but sure, 92c sounds good Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  8. if its an mxm version u can try the modded vbios from prema, just google prema mod for his website. just make sure its an mxm gpu, otherwise u might brick ur machine with that vbios... Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  9. yes and no. surprisingly, swapping out the stock thermal pads with fujipoly highend ones on my 980M lowered the core temps by a few degrees and improved overclocking ability quite a bit. that was with identical thermal paste and paste job before and after thermal pad swap Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  10. naiz! keep it up prema Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. busy man indeed btw, no worries about the email that ive sent u earlier @Batman, ill also need some time to compile the list
  12. as far as im aware the 7xx and 8xx series cards will not be compatible at all for the EM series machines. so its either 7970M/680M or 970M/980M for you Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  13. 1) yes 2+3) depends what u want to accomplish. if ur vbios is locked and u cannot overclock at all, then u can either flash the stock vbios, which is unlocked but still stock (lets u oc up to +135 mhz on gpu core and unlimited on gpu vram) or u flash the prema vbios which unlocks the core oc and also gives u overvolting ability Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  14. ambitious project indeed! looking forward to any progress Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  15. i guess a common problem with highres screens, mine can also just do 65Hz... Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  16. yeah, was thinking about trying that as well, since ive read lots of good things about that on desktop chipsets Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  17. for power supply details, best ask meaker over at NBR, hes the man for the job. he already detailed out a thread on how to properly mod a psu to look professional, just dont have the link handy atm as for those mini copper vram heatsinks, they have a slowdown effect when it comes to temperatures rising, but they dont affect the finally reached max temp, so theyre only good for a retardation effect while trapping the heat inside the chassis instead of actually transferring it outside. might improve on that by using an additional cooling stand though as for gpus, the fastest compatible cards would be 7970m and/or 680m, the former of which needs a modified vbios whereas the latter needs a specific vbios and modified drivers to properly work. 18. indeed, which u can also see in the batcave OP where i did power measurements with everything overclocked check my sig for that ps: its the p750zm btw, not the p770zm Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  19. damn ethrem, do u EVER get lucky with ur hardware? i keep reading those epic fails of yours @ components running super hot, throttling, failing *lol*
  20. seriously? anything below 80 under load is like "who cares?" hell, im happy with temps under 90! so yeah, difference between 50s and 60s is negligible... migh be due to different factors: clocks / voltages on gpu core, machine propped up or not, max fans or auto fans, quality of paste job, type of thermal paste used, ambient temperature...
  21. u can just use a regular philips flat head screwdriver.... well, if it still doesnt work then chances are good its the dgpu. there is, however, an additional chance that its the display cable or the display itself. but since the issues only arise once u install the AMD gpu drivers, its very likely the dgpu
  22. have u tried reseating the card, repasting it, checking the proper placement of the thermal pads on it, as well as cleaning out ur system from dust in the fans and heatsinks? if the issue still persists afterwards, the gpu might indeed be damaged and ull only be able to operate using the igpu. u still need the dgpu installed tho, otherwise ur laptop will freak out and shutdown Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  23. difficult to change timings if the machine wont even boot with the sticks in the first place Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  24. overclocking - higher fps rate at stock ur screen will most likely run at 60hz refresh rate so u wont notice anything above 60 fps. if ur fps go above that, try and overclock ur display refresh rate to adjust for the higher frame rates and thus get a smoother experience Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  25. should be quite a bit, considering one can overclock stable for like 150-200 mhz at stock voltage and every 50 mhz increment after that needs a steady voltage adjustment. id say -50 to -100 mV is definitely realistic at stock clocks Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
