  1. I see two options: - Use a riser cable - Use a case like the Silverstone RVZ01
  2. If you can do that, yes. Or cut and solder them.
  3. No, with an 8-Pin PCIe you will have to rewire it. Currently you would have a GND and 12V direclty connected!
  4. You can stick an 6-Pin on the Dell DA-2! Yes. But you can't put an 8-Pin on the Dell DA-2 without modding the cables! Even with two male ends, you should able to guess the pinout of the female end. Edit: The 8-Pin you have, is it a PCIe 8-Pin splitter or a 8-Pin ATX to PCIe splitter?
  5. So you are using the AKiTiO PSU? That is way too weak for any eGPU setup. You should power the AKiTiO from the 12V of the 750W PSU! Do you have other GPUs in your MacBook?

  7. More infos please... Is it an AKiTiO? How are you powering it? The stock AKiTiO will not be able to provide enough power for a GPU using the full 75W of the PCIe slot.
  8. Ah ok ^^ He should explain what he wants to achieve and which cards he wants to power. The Dell DA-2 can be combined with a PCIe splitter. The male ends are for the GPU... some need 6/8-Pin PCIe or a combination of them to run. The adapter from amazon is a 6+2-Pin which can work as a 6-Pin or a 8-Pin... Keep in mind that the Dell DA-2 should power the Dell DA-2 as well.
  9. Should work! And it is normal that it doesn't fit perfectly, you have to force it. Just make sure that the yellow wires of that plug are on the lower hald of the Dell plug. https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/7377-220w-dell-da-2-ac-adapter-discussion/&page=1 To make the Dell DA-2 work you also have to make a connection between the remote and a GND pin.
  10. Weird... But better ask for support in goalques thread.
  11. AMD cards might be unstable... Nvidia cards are currently more stable. Nvidia cards can also give you Optimus! But I think someone has a AMD R9 Nano running... but I don't think with a Dell DA-2.
  12. A small GTX970 that fits into the AKiTiO and the Dell DA-2 are pretty mobile! If your software can select the GPUs for rendering in the menu like Octane Render, it should work!
  13. AKiTiO teased their new eGPU, which lines up beside the upcoming Thunder3. I just hope the color is optional ^^
  14. Currently I only saw this guy here: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/9972-2014-macbook-pro-15-retina-gtx-1080-tb2-akitio-thunder2-osx-1011/ I bet it would work in Windows...
  15. My latest eGPU was a EVGA GTX 980Ti Hybrid running in a Cooler Master Elite 130, worked great and had awesome temps. Even installed a fan speed controller in the 5,25" bay and reduced the speed/noise of the pump and let the fan on the radiator spin slowly.
  16. I highly doubt that Nvidia has already released OSX drivers for the new Pascal GPUs...
