  1. @Torsten Sure it would. But most games do not need that much GHz. I limited it so I will get a stable boost! E.g. in GTA V my clock speed/boost was just bouncing up and down because the CPU was throttling because of heat. I felt like I could feel that in the game. Lowering the voltage will make the CPU run more efficient. All CPUs are different and Intel is just setting a safe voltage that all CPUs can run at. Most can run with much less voltage and with that, are much more efficient. -> Less heat, less noise, higher boost clocks. This is very interessting due to the bad cooling a MacBook provides.
  2. @MoathSama Intel XTU. I was able to lower my quad core CPUs volateg in my MacBook by -60mV. Also set a 3GHz limit.
  3. @Torsten Just checked my desktop PC with a 980Ti and I scored 2240. So you reached 86% of my points and that is good for an eGPU
  4. All that we know about Bizon is posted here: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/7921-rip-off-alert-bizon-box-2-is-an-overpriced-modified-akitio-thunder2-enclosure/&page=1 To summarize it: - It is based on stock hardware - all parts are available on the market - Bizon only drilles some holes and addes the cable/adapter Since your MacBook has only a dual core CPU, TB1 and a low res display you should be fine with a GTX 960 or max GTX 970. Building and installing the eGPU can be achieved with the help in this forum. Take a look for this parts: - AKiTiO Thunder2 - EVGA GTX 960 (the one with only one fan) - Dell DA-2 220W PSU
  5. @entzoe Don't want to hijack squinks thread, but I daisy chained a GTX970 and GTX980Ti with two AKiTiOs in OSX.
  6. The script should do it. Better ask if the GPU chip you want to use is working with the script. But with the older cards it should do the kext mods and just skip the drivers.
  7. Could be the CPU dropping it's clock speed suddenly...
  8. @ClassicMartini This script should do all of the modifications to install the eGPU: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/7989-script-automating-the-installation-of-egpu-on-os-x-inc-display-output/
  9. If you can wait, than wait! TB3 is an awesome solution and should be in the next MacBooks. Since Razer mentions that the manufactures might have to apply some settings in the BIOS of the laptop to make the TB3 eGPUs plug and play, we need to wait, see and test how Apple will do it.
  10. Imho the first picture in this thread is all you really need: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/7377-220w-dell-da-2-ac-adapter-discussion/ 12V on the one hand and ground on the other. Make a connection between ground and remote and the Dell DA-2 starts. All you need is a 8-Pin PCIe extension cable, rewire it (because yellow on the 8-Pin PCIe plug doesn't match the 12V of the Dell DA-2) and connect 6-Pins and the barrel plug.
  11. No idea. Better ask in a hardware forum, where they might know the power behaviour of the 750Ti.
  12. Can you monitor the load of the card?! Did you conenct the monitor to the eGPU? Not to the MacBook or any TB port!
  13. Unfortunately not. But I tested my first eGPU with a power meter. The setup was a MSI GTX 970 with a desktop PSU (more efficient than a Dell DA-2):
  14. Could work, but since all the 3rd party cards are overclocked and have a higher power target, peak load could exceed 220W. Also keep in mind that the AKiTiO Thunder2 needs power as well. So a GTX 980 with stock clock speeds and a normal power target could work.
  15. Here is a detailed video about the Razer Core. damn that thing is sexy.
  16. Internal display might be possible with this guide: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/6838-guide-enabling-intel-iris-pro-hd5200-in-win81-on-15-macbook-pro-with-gt750m/ But external display makes much more sense with such a powerful GPU! There are multiple people with running eGPUs setups and a 750m in their MacBook. 2.5GHz is good. The CPU will boost itself to higher speeds. You might want to consider using Intel XTU in Windows to lower the CPUs voltage and maybe even limit the turbo to sth like 3GHz.
  17. Which 400W PSU is it? If you cut of cables, make sure they are isolated propperly so they can't short your circuit.
  18. Just the boot screen and by that the boot selection menu.
