If money is no object, then the ducky shine 3 has really good build quality and multiple illumination modes (more than you would really need). Also comes in most of the Cherry MX switch types. I personally would never buy another rubber dome keyboard after getting this with MX blues.

So as it stands, is it at all possible to go from 3.05-> no whitelist?

If you're willing to go used, you can pick up one of the Dell precision workstation laptops for pretty cheap now. Build quality much better than lenovo and no locked bios to deal with.

I have the y510p with a 750m, and it gets extremely hot with standard GPU clock when I use it for CAD/ gaming.

A lot of their products are uses whitelists to pass FCC regulations. Yoga 2 pro included.
