  1. Downgraded from 3.05 to 2.07 and installed my new Intel 7260 AC card. Working wonderfully!
  2. This is the truth. Unless you intend on running multiple games at the same time, you won't need more than 8GB. Even with the most bloated copy of Windows 7 or 8 and running new games like Skyrim, ESO or SWTOR, my memory usage is at under 75% with my 8GB on my Y510p. If you are doing high-end professional-grade rendering with 3dsMax or video editing work, maybe you might want 16GB. Anything else and it's a waste, even moreso since your GPU(s) have their own dedicated memory.
  3. I would like to know this as well. 3.05 really needs to be worked on since it is the current version and what is shipping.
  4. Yeah, Lenovo threw us a curve ball, but we'll start seeing more 42mm ssd's as soon as more manufacturers start including the slots on laptops. Unfortunately for us, right now they're only available on top-end machines. Once they start showing up on mid-range laptops, we'll have a better go with it.
  5. Someone get this person a drink! Thank you very much. Getting any kind of support from Lenovo is like pulling teeth, so I try and avoid them when I can.
  6. Does anyone have experience with the cooling pads with the usb hub and the 2.5" hdd slot in them? I am debating whether to get that, or get a different type of cooling pad and an enclosure for my spare 2.5" drive. From the looks of it, the fans are right where they need to be for the Y510p. All about USB | USB 3.0, USB Gaming, USB Lifestyle | Brando Workshop : USB Notebook Cooling Pad + 3-Port Hub + 2.5" HDD Dock
  7. I did some tests with the stock hard drive with Win 8.1 and the Lenovo energy management software, and then with my old laptop's Windows 7 hard drive. The laptop actually runs better and cooler without the Lenovo software on it. Granted, "cooler" is not "cold." It will still get warm under load and toasty with intense gaming going on, but airflow from the fans is much better too under Win 7 without the Lenovo software.
