  1. It'll be Haswell. Anything else won't make sense for MS; it'd be a downgrade. AMD Temash/Kabini? No, power consumption way too high and performance too low. Remember, with the Surface Pro MS is setting a precedent they OEMs to follow, that's the reason they released the Surface series.

If anything, they are trying to downsize tablets with OEMs releasing 8" Atom Win8 tablets. I don't think a 14.6" tablet is practical. My 11.6" is borderline huge IMO.

  2. Guys -- sorry for disappearing for a while (I'm still alive). I apologize for the absolutely shitty communication I've had with the T|I community and my superiors.

I actually do log in every now and then to check PMs, threads, etc, but I just haven't been able to find time for my hobbies (gaming, moding, etc). I've moved into a new place, bought a new car, work part-time, changed my major (taking 18 credit hours this semester), transferred to a different university and now I have finals coming up as well as multiple certification exams! The amount of paperwork, bureaucracy, personal meetings and "settling in" I've had to deal with in the past 2-3 months has taken its toll on my extra-circulars. Trust me, I have not abandoned you, rather, I've reorganized my priorities.

Spamming me with PMs "Will donate for mod!" won't change the fact that I'm just too busy. As always, I don't require donations; I do my best to service this great community for free. But, I have to find time first! :)

P.S. I've also reformatted to Windows 8. That's a whole new learning experience as well. /wink

  3. CPU throttle, for sure.

Download Throttlestop and selected the desired settings.

Download & flash unlocked BIOS for your notebook and raise power limits and turbo time limits. No more CPU throttle. Just be sure to watch your temps because your CPU will run hotter when it has full turbo going always!

  4. CPU: 2960XM is the best, 2860QM is probably the best bang-for-buck CPU.

GPU: AMD 7970M (non-enduro) with modified heatsink is the best GPU upgrade for your notebook.

RAM: No clue, only tried 16GB.

Note: If you don't already, get a 180W or better PSU. You can download any file on here because you are a premium member. If you have any issues, let @Brian know.

  5. before ivy bridge msi doesnt supporty any switchables option to save power- then you can put almost any card [except kepler with some exceptions]

Correct. And Kepler doesn't work because Nvidia introduced Optimus from the top to bottom this generation.

  6. 2 . No. It isn't normal! AIDA64 sees 2*4Gb, but works (for the unclear reasons) by single channel! From here RAM productivity in Windows 5.9, instead of 7.3-7.4. Why that 1 RAM doesn't want to work (((I think it a problem in Bios! (This RAM is running on another laptop in dual channel mode)

Friends have same laptops with 8Gb memory! Under hardware needs only 500 Mb are allocated, and at me 4.5 Gb are reserved is hardware)

Have you ever reformatted before? It could be some software you are using.

Are you using integrated graphics? I bet that will be reserving some RAM for sure. But 4.6GB seems kinda high...

  7. great job...I always so admire that someone in the world doing this good deed for people.

I have a question though, does this unlock the function of en/disable CPU Hyper-threading??

    Yes, you can disable/enable HyperThreading.

Hi. Is this bios available in non raid version?

You disable RAID yourself in the BIOS after flashing.

:01:THX Trustudio Pro not working after update bios on GT780DX

    Try to reinstall it.

Hey @Xonar have you done a blind flash on the gt683dx? I'm trying to get my new mobo working it's version 1.0 and my original one was version 1.2.

    Thanks dude!

No sorry man. I haven't had any bad luck and everything about blind flashing I know is from reading other people say it works on the web. :(

    Hi thanks Xonar,

I already have been on the way to give my SSD Crucial M4 back until I have found your thread and this forum.

I bought by accident a GX660R and thought a SSD would be fine.

The BIOS was very moody to accept the SSD.

But I tried to load default setting in BIOS and after reboot it was ok until the next time..lol

So I have updated the BIOS with the tool from MSIHQ team and it runs fine now.

    regards

    andy20

    What tool from MSIHQ?

    Hi there

I have MSI GT70 0NE-609US Dragon Edition upgraded as shown below:

    Intel i7 extrem 3940xm 3.0GB

    Corsair 32GB ram 1866MHz

    Nvidia GForce GTX 680M 4GB

    Motherboard MS-1762

The bios is locked and I will unlock it using the files in this topic to get the highest perforemance.

But it is my first time doing that so i need your support and advice to configure sittings in bios to get the best if u don't mind

Just ask. If I don't respond promptly, it doesn't mean I'm ignoring you. It means I haven't had time to catch up on here.

  8. Nah, the BIOS option of 60W, 90W, 120W is generic and has no impact on the actual power supply of the brick. It was narrowed down to two possible scenarios: it's controlled by the EC or something hardware wise (updated on a later motherboard revision for support when they added the 180W brick for the 570M/580M).

IIRC, 180W is the "max possible", but a 180W Delta adapter can supply up to 200W easily (180W is just a typical rating, Delta makes quality PSUs), so I see no problem. I've been using my 150W Delta with a 2920XM & 6990M and haven't run into any problems.

  9. I'm curious if these cards: amd radeon 6990m Dell Alienware M18x ATI AMD Radeon 6990m 2GB (2954407861) - Allegro.pl - Wi (sorry for giving page in polish language), geforce gtx 580m GTX580m 2GB DDR5 (2958359755) - Allegro.pl - Wi , and amd radeon 6970m from dell alienware m17x ATI RADEON AMD 6970M 2GB ! DELL ALIENWARE M17X !! (2960035350) - Allegro.pl - Wi will work in my msi gt683? I'm really sorry for giving those pages in polish, and for my poor english but i'm tryin.

All 3 should work. I have a Dell 6990M in my MSI 16F2 right now. :)
