  1. indeed! i had a boring afternoon on saturday and an urge to play games, so i set about it! I found the thermal paste wasn't applied properly and was like powder. So it cleaned it all up. and applied some AS5 paste and carefully and properly positioned the heatsink onto the GPU. i proceeded to tape up the large air gaps in both coolers with HVAC tape. and its running amazingly now. only reason it drops below 993mhz during intensive games is due to lack of power to the core sometimes according to GPU-Z. i guess this would be easy to fix if i could increase power to the core in software. But still. im worried my gpu wont last so long having being used at such high temps for so long.
  2. Hi guys, i been dissapointed with my frame rates with my latest laptop for ages. well finally i get around to disgnosing my problems. and what ive found is that my gpu is firing right up to 93 degrees and flatlineing there by severly cutting my clock speeds. in the most resource intensive games my clock speeds are dropping below 400mhz to try and maintain 93degrees on the core. now i think 93 degrees is far too hot even if it was getting the clock speeds it was supposed to. Every time i mention it to schenker they find it unbelieveable because im the first person to complain to them about the gtx880m and they say theres no evidence on the internet to say "We have seen the discussions on forums about the 880M performance, I would note the following: - you are actually the first person to report any issues directly to our company - most people are experiencing throttling issues whilst overclocking rather than at stock speeds - throttling and clock speed reduction in some games has been resolved with driver updates, as reported on nbr" Well i have sent them a few emails with attachments containing readouts from GPU-z while i run games and they clearly show my throttling issues. and if i look at gpu-z while gaming its all purple on the graph saying its throttling due to thermal issues. Been running like this since i bought the laptop and just cant get it to run games properly without severe throttling that gets as low as 398mhz on the core :/ no wonder my laptop feels slower to game on than my old laptop with 7970m lol what are my options? to my the gtx 880m just seems useless. Cheers, Rob
  3. If i really can drop a GTX980m into my clevo p370sm-a ill be so happy!! i bought this laptop with only 1x gtx880m with the hope id be able to one day sell it and buy a gtx980m and then have space for a 2nd one if i want it because there have been so many positive rumours about the card. and now my new laptop isnt EOL already haha. these new cards should keep us happy!! i wonder what schenker will sell me one for? and where u think i should sell the GTX 880m? ebay? Cheers
  4. still no luck in running svl7s modded bios on my 880m tryed it again today, and still it just crashes the desctop with i unplug it and run on battery, makes the laptop totally useless till you plug it back in and let it recover. Any advancements on this problem svl7? cheers
  5. Cheers! would be much appreciated. was loving your bios apart from that one defeating problem! The original bios is nothing special, in gpuz it reads as device ID: 10DE - 1198 device vender: clevo / kapok (1558) bios version: 80.04.9E.00.02 This is the stock bios that i am currently running on and its flawless in terms of running on battery power. runs games, albeit at lower frame rates. runs all my applications including chrome, VLC etc etc If it would help you, i could do some tests. i could start by reflashing the current modded bios you have out for the gtx880m and see if my problem persists? Cheers, Rob
  6. Hi there, im having a problem with your vbios on my p370sm-a laptop. its flashed on a GTX 880m and my problem is i cant run my laptop without the power lead in. when i unplug and load up google chrome for example. the screen will freeze but sound will still work and mouse input. when i plug it back in, it will recover within 20 seconds and come up with nvidea kernal crash and recover. had your bios on for a few days, and tryed everything to get it to run on battery, but no luck. have flashed back to stock bios just now and i am running google chrome right now typing this message on battery power. running any other application has the same effect with the modded bios, just freezes up the graphics driver. any help would be awesome, your bios was awesome other than this problem! cheers, Rob
