  1. Yes, but that noise is really bothering ME. Ha! Sent from my overpriced Galaxy S6 Edge +
  2. Yes, but it will be much quieter. [emoji1] Sent from my overpriced Galaxy S6 Edge +
  3. Water cool it! Sent from my overpriced Galaxy S6 Edge +
  4. New or New Old Stock will not fall in price. 980M on the used market did fall in price a bit. Then people found that there was no upgrade path to Pascal and the prices have remained pretty solid. Sent from my overpriced Galaxy S6 Edge +
  5. Holy smokes the forums are on fire today! I am not sure what I am looking at. Going to take a while to digest it all. Funny thing is I was playing on y M18x R2 with 680M SLI and thinking about Pascal. It does not look like it will get a 1080M upgrade, correct?
  6. It's anybody's guess as to what the 1070M will cost at launch. I got my last 970M at RJTech.com for $450.00 + $5.00 for the screws. Price has gone up to $460.00 http://rjtech.com/shop/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=30307 Be sure to get the screws. Sent from my overpriced Galaxy S6 Edge +
  7. You will have to modify the inf file regardless. Beware of the heat. Use good paste and monitor it closely.
  8. With my R2 I gained about 20-30 FPS in Mechwarrior Online by upgrading the CPU to a 3940XM over the 3720QM . I didn't overclock.
  9. Yep, I think it was quite silly of them to call this new card GTX980. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  10. Very cool! I have two of these I am playing with. Be careful with Win 10. It's bricking displays. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/862417/geforce-drivers/windows-10-geforce-drivers-are-killing-samsung-and-lg-notebook-lcd-display-panels/1/
  11. Looks like you are getting your machine tuned up. However, I would be cautious with Win 10. It is frying LCDs. Actually this combo is writing to the EDID with bad code, causing the screen to not function. The fix is not for the faint of heart. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/862417/geforce-drivers/windows-10-geforce-drivers-are-killing-samsung-and-lg-notebook-lcd-display-panels/1/
  12. I just removed the Blue Tooth Mini PCIe card and replaced it with a Mini PCIe to USB 2.0 adapter. I installed my mouse dongle in there. I like not having to unplug and store it. This isn't a new trick, but first time for me.
  13. I recently bought two of these laptops from ebay, both with GT 240M. One was in decent shape, no hard drive, dead battery, and a 1600 x 900 screen (didn't know about the screen resolution until after). The other had a hard drive, 1080 screen, dead battery, trouble booting. I have determined that the motherboard is bad. I have a used one on the way from China. I found that replacing the i7 620M with a 920XM makes a HUGE difference. I was getting 15 fps in CS:GO on the lowest settings at 1600 x 900. Now I get 35+ fps on the highest settings. I already had a Viking 128GB SSD laying around. Even that relatively crappy SSD makes the machine very snappy. Thanks for your update! 14. The R1 around run 980M due to not having UEFI support. You are correct on that. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  15. Any update on this? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  16. Yes, but the nVidia card is still way better at anything below DX12, correct?
  17. 980M SLI is working on an M18x R2. You Not sure how that translate to an R1. Not my machine BTW. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  18. Yes, please give is a status update. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  19. I am gonna wait and see. I have an M18x R2 on the way in a couple of weeks, but it already has 680m SLI that I can play with for a while. IF this does turn out to be true, I am still gonna wait and see. Not really interested in being an early adopter with the recent Windows 10/nVidia fiasco. I also remember when everyone was chomping at the bit for the 880m and it turned out to be kind a non-event. I hear you. Last night I was on the Mechwarrior Online forums looking for performance info on 680m SLI. One thread had a whole gang of people bashing all over laptops for gaming. They really have no idea how much power these things can have. Hell, my P170SM-A with an 880m has more punch than ANY of the systems my son's friends own. It's not like every gamer has bleeding edge tech to play with. My son has a XPS 15 with a GT 640m. He still cleans my clock when we go head to head. Sometimes he is only getting 20 FPS.
  20. Nice! BCLK OC was more trouble than it was worth anyway. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  21. Very cool! I have two of these M15x coming from eBay. I didn't get them for the deal that you did but I am not unhappy with it. Paid right at $300 each for systems in good cosmetic condition with 1080p screens. The rest I am going to upgrade anyway so I didn't care about. Figure I will sell the parts I pull out to get some of the money back out of it.
  22. It seems most kits are 1.35v these days. Will that work? Do I need 1.5v RAM?
  23. You have my sympathy. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  24. Yes you were. Sorry for my confusion brother. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  25. Ok, just take a deep breath. I wasn't blaming you. Just letting you know that the power brick is plenty for normal use. Many laptops in that same class use a 180w power brick with no issues. So, you put am MSI 880m on your Alienware? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
