I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 on my Y510p and can boot fine. I assume this is the first boot? Assuming that you're using noveau, have you tried adding nomodeset on the grub entry? on grub screen press e to edit the grub entry, and find a line similar to this: linux /boot/vmlinuz-xxxx-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxx ro quiet $vt_handoff and edit it to look like this: linux /boot/vmlinuz-xxxx-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxx ro quiet nomodeset $vt_handoff More on nomodeset on ubuntuforum

Well, hello, I'm Ikhsan from Jakarta, Indonesia. I've been persistently shoving Ubuntu to my laptop since 2006, and documented them here. I recently purchased a Lenovo Y510p and managed to get almost everything to my liking, except for the bluetooth. I end up at T|I when researching about BIOS modding. Looking forward to put SteamOS on it
