  1. If anyone is interested in knowing turning off the graphics switching and setting the primary device to igpu did nothing for the battery life, and other than making the Nvidia card unusable did nothing else either. Also darcinator the way I understand it by reading the forum here, since the Nvidia card is routed through the Intel card it doesn't work if you shut the Intel card and also serves to make the laptop screen not work.
  2. Ideally I would turn the nvidia off to get better battery life when I need it, and when I need to game I would turn the Nvidia back on. It is definataly the opposite of what most people what to do.
  3. Does anyone know what the Advanced>Video Configuration>Special Features does? I am wondering if it would be able to shut off the Nvidia card? I dont want to mess with it without asking someone first. Another option potentially is to change the Primary Display from SG to IGPU? I wonder if that would do anything good or bad? Any advice would be great, thanks!
  4. Skyrim is also the game that I would vote for. Easily the best game in the Elder Scrolls series (especially gameplay wise) and with mods coming out that allow you to play in Morrowind and Oblivion as well you can play the old ones with the new gameplay. Though those mods are not too far along yet, they have Morrwind for Oblivion and it shows the promise quite well!
  5. My hope is to be able to get a little more battery and to be able to use my OSX compatible wifi card out of my older laptop. Even if I could only get the second of these things, I would be happy.
  6. From what I heard if you got the factory SSD caching option, then the M2 NGFF slot is there and that is where the SSD is. If you didn't get the option then they didn't put the slot in at all. I have a y510p 0005 and I can confirm that I have the slot.
  7. I have the 1.09 version bios and that works with the bios unlock not just the whitelist mod from what I can tell. There are options for the video and for overclocking, would any of those options help battery life. I love this laptop but I don't need all the power all the time. If I could just shut off the Nvidia card like what normal Optimus does rather than just leaving it idle like I think the GPU Auto Select does in the drivers that would be great.
  8. Has anyone seen any battery life improvements with this mod? I searched the thread and I was unable to find anyone saying anything about that.
