  1. The R2 and R3 use Nvidia optimus to switch graphics cards. Its all automatic and seamless, but you can go in and say which gpu to use for certain apps.
  2. if you cant live with the stock display, you can direct swap in a LG LP116WH4(SL)(N2). I ordered mine from laptopscreen.com. Its an ips panel so viewing angles are significantly better, but its also brighter and has better colors.
  3. I just bought an r3 in the last week or so. i7-2617, 8gb ram and I put an ssd in it. Paid $700 for it from a private seller on amazon. It seems like around $700 is what a good r3 goes for and imho its hard to beat the performance and portability even with brand new laptops. Mine will still hit 6 hours of battery life without drastic battery saving methods like limiting cpu while on battery and whatnot.
  4. Hey, just wanted to post here, Me and another member of notebookreview.com have successfully swapped the M11X display panel with the LG LP116WH4(SL)(N2). I purchsed mine from laptopscreen.com and you will also need the lvds extension cable that they also sell. Its an ips display so it has awesome viewing angles, the colors are a little better and the blacks are quite a bit better. Its also quite a bit brighter. Brightness works just fine on the R3, and probably on the R2 (not guaranteed) due to the intel graphics being in control of brightness all the time. On the R1 Brightness control apparently only works when the intel gpu is active. I am not responsible for anyone who damages a laptop trying this.
  5. If they made a m12x with a haswell or whatever current gen intel processor and nvidia 7xx series it would be badass. From what Ive read it was stated a few times the m11x was the best selling laptop they made. Their is also a HUGE difference in size between the m11x and the m14x. If they made a 12in model that was designed to be compact it would be awesome.
