  1. I'm having a weird problem. I cannot install your modded drivers anymore. De-intsalled my current drivers with DDU, grabbed the latest 64bit 340.52 HQ, copied/pasted/replaced the files from your latest nvdmi.inf_v340.52_nvcuvenc.dll_New.zip you posted into Display.Driver -> results in a NVIDIA INSTALLER FAILED [fail at graphic driver]. I disabled the HD AUDIO in Bios, redownloaded several times - nothing. Help? edit: Nevermind, forgot to turn on testsigning. Thanks for keeping us up to date with drivers J95!
  2. Wow!!! I cannot thank you enough! This has totally fixed my issues! No more weird screens at startup, and sleep mode works just fine! I am seriously in your debt!
  3. What thermal pads (thickness, type) are you using? What thickness in what places exactly? What thermal paste?
  4. I don't think you can enable 3D on a non-stock R3 GPU; it has something to do with OEM whitelists and Nvidia having to pay for enabling 3D. Haven't seen anyone make it working.
  5. Well - I found a way to make it KIND OF work; before going into sleep mode, disable the IDT card in your device manager. After waking your notebook up, just re-enable it. I guess it has something to do with the order in which the drivers are loaded. If the IDT turns on first, then the GPU somehow locks the computer (IRQ issue?); that is why turning IDT off in Bios BEFORE installing GPU drivers work. Is it possible to somehow DELAY turning on specific hardware in windows? Or make a script to DISABLE hardware when shutting down/going 'sleep/hibernate'?
  6. Wait J95 - so what you're saying is that 326.01 driver is COMPATIBLE with 780's 3D in R3?
  7. The method DOES INDEED work; however - I'll just quote myself from another forum: "My sleep mode doesn't work. Whenever I power the notebook on from sleep mode, all I get is a white screen. Anyone experiencing similar? Other than these, everything works just fine. I'm getting great performance and really good temps with the 780m." Now - after trying several things, I can also confirm that hibernation doesn't work either; no sleep mode / hibernate WITH the IDT soundcard turned on; once you wake/unhibernate the notebook, it gives a white/black screen - similar to the behavior before installing 780m's drivers. It MUST be an IRQ problem; is there any way to change the DMA/IRQs of either the GPU/the IDT card? I curse the Dell/Alienware for not supporting the R3 with a SINGLE BIOS update to make it all work.
  8. OK - everything works swell; I'm just having two little issues, tho [Alienware m17x R3 of course]. When I first booted up with the 780m installed, I got a black screen and beeps happened (I didn't count - 6 maybe?); it was with the IDT and IGP turned off [graphics set to PEG]; I simply powered off and on - it started allright; installed the nvidia drivers, rebooted, turned on the IDT - everything works including sound. However, the beeps still RANDOMLY happen (tho not very often - once every 3-4 boots). A simple power off/power on makes the notebook boot just fine. Why do the black screens with beeps randomly happen? Any idea? Also - my sleep mode doesn't work. Whenever I power the notebook on from sleep mode, all I get is a white screen. Anyone experiencing similar? Other than these, everything works just fine. I'm getting great performance and really good temps with the 780m. PS. Haven't tried the modded vbios yet - what exactly does it do? Everyone boast that it can help you get over 10k in 3Dmark - does it overclock/overvolt?
