  1. Heyho, I'm toastrecon. Currently I own a Lenovo Y580, fitted with a Plextor M5M 256GB mSATA drive. I joined because I recommended the setup to a friend, but he gets GPU temps >90°C, so I need to fix this.
  2. +1 for Clevo, that's the closest you'll get to building your own laptop.
  3. I don't know much about cooling pads, and I've never seen a nice roundup with multiple contestants like they do with thermal paste, but even putting my laptop an some legos as a makeshift pad yields slightly better temperatures. Does anyone here know if additional fand on the cooling pad do anything at all? Because the Cooler Master Notepal series looks really good and functional (transport). Adding fans would greatly hurt the portability.
  4. Signed, even though I'm highly sceptical of the impact of such petitions. Thaks for sharing this here.
  5. I use the Shure SRH840 studio monitors in combination with my laptop mic. I bought them for the sound quality and use them for my portable music needs too. They're a bit expensive, if you'd like something good for a better price, take a look at the Sony MDR-V6, or even cheaper, anything from Superlux. A friend of mine owns the HD681 and we both vouch for the quality. Best value we've seen so far. For the mic, he uses a cheap Zalman one. I figure, they're all the same, unless you're buying professional equipment like some large membrane studio mics.
  6. It's absolutely worth it. The rush you get, when your ship is on fire and you're desperately trying to get your weapon systems up in order to fire back at a cloaked ship... feels good man.
