jrbaytown: you've probably tossed your Y510p asunder by now, but what alternatives would you really want? Lenovo makes some pretty killer hardware for the price. On the Y5xx series in general, the wireless cards should be the least concerning. . .

Have you considered an SSH? It might not give you all that solid room of a SSD, but at least you can keep your larger drive.

Looking for a Laptop that I can use for my work
soupular replied to Kneliking's question in What Notebook Best Fits My Needs?
I have a Y510p. If you're looking for something that's portable, look elsewhere. Of course, I also purchased a used thinkpad recently, and that runs really well, considering a few scratches for higher-end Sandy-Bridge power. $700 will get you something OP, just avoid chips Intel chips that say "U" or "Y" at the end and you'll get some beef. -
I've been using the pre-installed wifi card for four months now with Windows 8. I think the only reason why I would upgrade would be for dual-band capabilities.

I'm soupular. Soup for short. I own a Thinkpad x220 and a Ideapad Y510p. Nice to meet any and all of you.
