  1. More details would be useful - what kind of drive is "Disk 0"? Check disk manager (diskmgmt.msc) - is it a cache SSD, larger SSD, hard drive? Googling the error with "logical block address 0" in particular shows that a few others with Lenovo's have had this issue and resolved it by doing a factory software reset - have you tried that yet?
  2. The switchable graphics don't work when you're using SLI - it's a limitation of Optimus.
  3. This seems like a good place to report my success with a wireless card... I ordered this one from ebay and it's been great. It's a Broadcom which I had heard may not work the best with 410p/510p hardware but it also has an IBM part number... still requires the BIOS mod though. Number of networks I can see hugely increased after install. I hadn't really had any serious issues with the 2230 and was mostly installing it to get the 5GHz, but reception is so much better with the new card. (One side effect: my inssider link score on 2.4GHz dropped pretty significantly because I was suddenly picking up more networks on nearby channels, heh) Anyway, it's only N, and still requires the BIOS mod despite reports I'd heard that it should work without, but it seems to be a solid dual band card that is working great in my Y410p.
  4. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that the hangs at startup were suspected to be caused by faulty and/or counterfeit 7260ac's from ebay. Is Windows recognizing it as a 7260ac when it does boot?
  5. Checked it, and as far as I can tell whether it is plugged in or not makes no difference to Optimus. Being on battery does significantly kill the clock speed of the Nv card though, it seems to max at 135MHz on battery which is really quite bad. Don't know if that's an artificial limitation (I expect it is to at least some degree) or if the battery really can't provide enough juice to do much more.
  6. Another satisfied customer for the 3.05->2.07 flash util on page 2! Worked great on my Y410p that shipped with 3.05. After that was able to use the 2.07 mod from the other thread and now I can finally use my 5ghz router as a 5ghz router! Might be worth adding this to the OP of the other thread?
  7. I've got one similar to that - the faceplate doesn't fit over the whole thing like the original faceplate does, so it still looks ugly unless you use the original faceplate.
  8. I'm pretty sure 3.05 does not support the 7260ac. It *may* support the 7260 non-AC as they have started selling Y410p models with that preinstalled. Unfortunately the only 7260ac I had turned out to be a fakey ebay one, so I didn't test this (properly), but that would be my guess...
  9. My Y410p boots from that 128GB m.2/NGFF found on Amazon. I'm not quite sure what I did to make Windows recognize it, but I'm pretty sure it involved booting Windows in Legacy mode (which was a fight on it's own, had to use WinRE to get that working) and initialize the drive as GPT from there. I then cloned my old drive onto the m.2 and now it boots in UEFI mode to that drive.
  10. If it's the m.2 connector (which the Y410p's have) I use a 128GB drive in mine I grabbed off Amazon, price wasn't too bad but it was a no-name brand. Loaded the OS on it and it after some brief arguments with the EFI BIOS it works fine. That said, probably not worth soldering a m.2 connector on there for that.
  11. I'll have to verify this when I get home today, but I don't think I've seen the card being used affected by the current power source. I've definitely seen it use the Nv card while playing games on battery, and I'm pretty sure I've seen desktop apps report the card as an Intel 4600 while I've been plugged in (but that may have been a lie, wasn't really checking for it...) I'll look into this later.
  12. I have had two Y410p's, one with a single 750M and another with a single 755M, and both seemed to switch between the Intel 4600 and the Nvidia card just fine. Should have mentioned that the processor is selected based on the program being run - you can set up programs that always run on the Nvidia card in the Nvidia control panel. I don't see "optimus" branding on anything but it's pretty much the same functionality.
  13. Wow, great to hear that it looks like 3.05 is downgradeable - I actually just gave away the 7260AC card I ordered to someone who had another Y410p with a 2.x version of the BIOS, but looks like there is hope for me yet. Will try it on mine as soon as I can get a few posts in here, I guess.
  14. I just got a Y410p and it came with 3.05 installed. I noticed there is an option in the BIOS menu to "allow back version of BIOS to be installed", but I'm guessing I'm not the first person to have seen this. I'd enable this option and download it but looks like I need to get posts in this forum first - so anyone with access to the BIOS files and a 3.05 BIOS tried this?
