  1. I'm selling my PE4H (PCIe passive adapter ver2.4) on ebay. I've moved on from gaming and no longer need it. It worked perfectly on my Toshiba L300 without "Setup" . I hope it's OK to put the link here, I learned about it all here so someone here may want it. It worked perfectly with a Nvidia GTS450 1GB and Dell 27" monitor exactly as per Nando's instructions. It was a lot of fun but I moved on now after getting bored with train simming. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221381009112 Update: Its now sold, so is no longer for sale. Cheers
  2. SUCCESS! ! ! ! ! ! Almost instant success. Well I set it up as per my post #2406 on page 241 and at first after plugging in the eGPU and waking the laptop, nothing. So I went into DM and bingo, there it was, naked as a j-bird, "device (Nvidia GTS460 VGA card) not recognised". Right clicked and updated the card with the Nvidia drivers I had down loaded in anticipation of this and bingo, device recognised. Put the laptop to sleep, plugged the eGPU in, woke it up and the 27" Dell activated but a grey screen with no image but did have the mouse pointer. Right clicked and set up the monitors in "Screen Resolution", turned off the lappy monitor in same window and the full monty appeared barfing all over the Del 27" . She all works. When disconnecting as a reverse of above the first time, I got BSOD. So, using the reverse of above, after changing the monitors back, I used SAFELY DISCONNECT HARDWARE to disconnect the Nvidia eGPU, then put the laptop back to sleep, unplugged the E2C2 card and the laptop woke it up with no BSOD. All works. Thank you Nando and all other contributors here for the 500 pages and 2 weeks of heavy reading it took me to get the thing going but it WORKS! It has been fun making this. Next is a nice enclosure and tweaking of the GTS450. 3. Well, I've gone with the DIY eGPU as described in this forum and have gathered up the bits. My requirements are to run MS Train Simulator and MS Flight Sim X. I've got: Toshiba Sateliite L300 Win7, 32, i4 Internal gpu with Express card slot PE4H ver.2.4 with EC2C, PCIEMM-060B cable, External 5V/12V power supply cable x1, SWEX, Asus Nvidia ENGTS450 GPU, scavenged 250W Dell PSU 27" Dell monitor. I'm not sure how to wire it all up yet, I've been searching hundreds of pages here looking for wiring details because I don't want to fry anything but I haven't found a picture yet.. I'm not sure if I need to power the Asus GPU AND the PE4H?. I sure don't want to over-volt it and fry anything? When I find out how to wire it I'll give it a go.
  4. Well, I'm still at it. I don't want to give up on this. I still want to make an eGPU using my Tosh Satelite L300 PSLB8A-0FM004 . Has anyone seen this? Use PCI card on a notebook Because it looks like this 3-slot XPRS-PCIX3 will do exactly what I originally drew a picture of and took it to a tech shop that told me no such thing existed (before I came across this Great Wall of fab info). That picture was of a (host) express-card linked (peripheral) 2 slot PCI external card with a graphics card AND a PCI sound card for my MS Train Sim. That's what I dreamed of, the external eGPU and ALSO (perhaps) have the ability to run an eSound Card. Added Info: I just found this one too with 2 PCI slots. The pics show the guts of the thing. Expresscard 34mm To Dual Pci Adapter Card Laptop Pci Extender - Buy Laptop Pci Extender,Express To Dual Pci,Express To Pci Adapter Product on Alibaba.com $121 on Ebay fron China. Called an IT-GO or a COCO-3C. Looks like it does not have much room for a fan/s in the box but it would be easy to make another enclosure. Anyone tried one? - I think I'll pull the trigger on it at $121 delivered.. May I ask the opinion of our learned fraternity here what the consensus is? Thanks in advance.
  5. Thank you, I understand your points about my limiting base hardware and I'm sure your opinion is sound. This is a great forum and the fun of making a DIY eDPU appealed to me. Well, perhaps it may be an HP2570P and an eGPU instead of a new laptop. That appeals to me. And the $ are in it. I'm looking into it. Thanks for your reply. Cheers
  6. Well, thank you for the response. Now my enthusiasm has declined, perhaps I was over-enthusiastic to begin with. For me, I needed to achieve 5 things: (1) improve my graphics for MS Train Simulator, (2) use my current L300 laptop, (3) be able to use the eGPU for both external monitor and improve the laptop screen, (4) deprive the computer manufacturers of planned obsolescence. (5) the enjoyment of making or buying a eGPU as per this site instead of a new lappy. Already it looks like I cannot achieve this. I am very sad. Looks like I have to (a) endure crappy graphics or ( buy a new lappy. After 1 week of research here and on the old Ver 1, I think I am toast. I do not want to give them new money when my lappy just needs a eGPU. So, I assume it is not practical to proceed?
  7. Hi all and Nando. I'm a nube here and I can't believe I found this fab forum about eGPU's. It's ironic, I drew a picture of what I wanted to do to make a laptop DIY eGPU and took it to a major computer warehouse here, showed it to a tech/salesman and he said can't be done. Twice, 2 different guys. Buy a better lappy both said. Well here I am and I'm gonna pull the trigger on the eGPU as per Nando's forum. Here I discovered the vidock and a couple of others but I'm doing a DIY. You may not believe it but I read over 200 pages here so I'm confident to go. Here is my proposal: Any flaws - please point them out to me. Thanks in advance - soon as I get the OK here, it's $$$ away. I shall report my experience here.
