If your going to keep it around for that long i would go for the i7. In most games and programs today it performs about the same but alot of recent games are taking advantage of those extra threads. In lamens terms the i5 has four cores and the i7 has eight. I dont know much about the rest of the stuff you want to know about though. good hunting!

Ya, the unlocked version lets you control the fan speed and trigger point but it only has 2 stages I would use HW monitor but i get terrible stability with that program (with latest version), the program locks up after a while and my fans stop dynamically changing Thanks for the suggestion though

Thermal paste is deffinally the best thing you can do if your getting bad overclocks. the difference is pretty phenominal on the m14x.

Any chance of getting an unlocked A05 (not volt modded)? might actually make it usefull if you can change the fan speed in the bios

Very nice. Ile probably wait a while to get this but these details are pretty crucial to me Also, im not sure about the relevance but the i5 m14x is a duel core with hyper threading apposed to a quad core. i doubt it makes a difference But thanks for checking the performance on the i5 front!

Hmm, Maby you just didnt get lucky on your GPU... But i would check the driver too, i think 275.25 is still the fastest by a tad. Lol, you guys are brave to do a volt modded A05. Those bios almost overheat just with a simple overclock, Cant believe someone beat me and got 850 T_T

Construction probably doesnt count as shipping but, keep track of the date, because i think if it takes too long your supposed to call alienware about it. but i think thats probably closer to a 2 week timeline.

It took me like four days on the standard shipping I thought i had more time so i went camping, about 20 minutes after i left my daad called and told me it just got in. sad day.

I liked fallout newvegas, but it was essentially a revamp of fallout 3 (very simular). But it has enough new content to keep you busy 100 or so hours. Sadly the game has poor optimization, but i would recomend buying it off steam because its pretty cheap ($20) so its not going to set you back much if you dont like it. the only downsides i can think of to the game are as follows 1)Buggy (nothing game breaki:ng though) 2)not very optimized 3)a little too simular to fallout 3

I have the i5 version, as long as you dont use bios A05 i dont think it will ever go over 90. so it does run hot but theres plenty of buffer space.

I assume if you removed the memory plate on the m14x and got something that blows more air into the laptop you could get a nice 5-10 degree drop, depending on conditions.

at the moment im trying to beat deus ex HR, but im getting burnt out (40+ hours in 3 days) so im taking a break so i dont get sloppy I also am playing Borderlands thanks to TMI and im on the verge of playing world in conflict (with soviat assault). Plenty to keep me busy

Hi, you left a request on my youtube channel a while back, sorry it took so long. Loaded up the game maxed out with 4x AA and it ran silky smooth. Never went below 60fps. I was actually surprised at how well it ran because this game actually looks pretty good. I didnt play it for too long because I got stuck alot but, from the numbers i saw you will probably never get a single 'hiccup' the entire game.

@Enfore ive been running A05 for most of today and overclocks deffinatelly have no effect in battery mode over the a03 bios.

I did some testing with these bios, it definatelly adds more fan phases, but i seem to be getting a 4 degree increase in temp while gaming. (from 78 to 82 celsius)
