  1. A T410 uses a Series-5 chipset which has only a Gen1 (PCIe 1.1, 2.5Gbps) expresscard/mPCIe interface. A one-gen newer T420 is where they started using a Gen2 (PCIe 2.0. 5Gbps) expresscard/mPCIe interface.
  2. Windows uses a unified driver for both your NVidia GPUs. Problem is Win7 uses the old GT320M driver that doesn't support the GTX960. Pls upgrade to Win8/10 where you can disable the Nvidia dGPU and install the Nvidia eGPU driver.
  3. You cannot disable your primary GPU (iGPU or dGPU) under Win7 as doing so prevents the eGPU from working. Re-enable it and try again. Only win8/10 (or older XP) allows the eGPU to work when the primary GPU is disabled so try one of those OS if need primary GPU disabled.
  4. See details at https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/2141-12-dell-e6230-hd7870gtx660x4gbpsc-ec2-pe4l-21b-win7-Tech Inferno Fan/#post37197
  5. It's unclear where the problem is. Assuming you can boot Setup 1.30, then you set Chainloader->mode=MBR and do Chainloader->Test Run. Only once chainloading is confirmed to work should you then proceed to go any other actions like PCIe Compaction. Pls try this and if have any more questions pls email me more details. My email address is on the opening post of this thread.
  6. I've had no luck with the experimental UEFI installation. Instead, use the appropriate Bootcamp (see https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT205016) where you configure the partitions for a Win7 installation, which will make MBR partitions. Then when you boot the Win8/10 media after pressing the OPTION button ensure you select the USB (MBR) rather than UEFI boot. Given I see previous post comments of disabling a dGPU, I assume you have a GT750M equipped MBP. This also requires a custom configuration file to resolve error 12. Pls PM me once you have a Windows MBR installation + Setup 1.30 installed so can advise further.
  7. Pls PM me the Save Diags -> compact_fails resultant file if concerned about dGPU off functionality. The DSDT field in the STATUS window is a placeholder for future development and atm doesn't do anything. Instead, confirm your DSDT override works by checking for a 'Large Memory' area in Device Manager.
  8. Something maybe of interest to 2570P owners ... A customized HP Elitebook 8460P with OSX is now being sold as a Hacbook Elite, a Macbook equivalent for 1/3 of the price. Can see the marketting at http://hacbook.com/ Worth noting can build yourself a "Hacbook Elite" with the better HP Elitebook 8470P (more efficient 3rd gen CPU, no-whitelist WLAN, USB 3.0) for even less.
  9. You can try the steps at https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/5874-guide-dsdt-override-to-fix-error-12/ to resolve error 12. Otherwise if have a MBR installation of Windows can use https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/1650-diy-egpu-setup-130-previously-setup-1x/
  10. As published on youtube: MSI GX70 with eGPU GTX1060 6Gb (V8.0 EXP GDC) - GTA V - Benchmark
  11. The Setup 1.30 bootitem exists in your BCD. Strange that it isn't being presented during bootup. Are you using some other bootloader? In any case, the immediate solution is to use a USB stick installation instead. The installation instructions with Setup 1.30 explain how to create that. Refer to http://www.disk-partition.com/help/convert-gpt-mbr-disk.html or other google-search result links about UEFI to MBR conversion
  12. @andr01dm, nice work in getting it up and running. We don't have a previous Lenovo G40-70 eGPU implementation writeup. Did you want to create one putting in the details of your pioneering findings so other owners of this notebook can confidently proceed to add an eGPU to theirs too?
  13. Please PM me two screenshots. Those being the output of: 1. the previously mentioned 'setup-disk-image' run 2. immediately followed by 'bcdedit /enum'
  14. Series-6 and newer chipsets have the x2/x4 mode setting locked into a ME Firmware bootstrap. To alter it requiring extracting, modifying, then flashing a modified ME firmware. This is quite technical work, with only one existing public example performed by @timohour in https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/7574-14-dell-latitude-e6430-performance-upgrades-and-system-mods/ . This mod is further complicated by a lack of x2 2.0 capable eGPU hardware as is explained in that thread. A Thunderbolt eGPU solution being the more elegant approach for bandwidth greater than x1 2.0 EC/mPCIe.
  15. If USB stick installation doesn't work for you then use the disk image installation steps given at the following URL. There, Setup 1.30 will present as an additional Windows bootitem. https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/files/file/87-diy-e-gpu-setup-130-by-Tech Inferno Fan/
  16. You are in China. What's an expresscard cable to link your EXP GDC with for your 6470p worth? That's the easy and imho better solution there than the mPCIe cable.
  17. Either run your EXG GDC at Gen1 (x1 1.1) speed, or use a PE4C V3.0 instead with a soldered cable that has better Gen2 stability.
  18. Pls follow steps in the spoiler: It should complete without errors. Then reboot and check for a "Setup 1.30" Windows bootmenu item and select it. If don't see it, or get errors during 'setup-disk-image' run then pls PM the details to troubleshoot further.
  19. Great deal and best choice out of 8470P, 2570P and E6430 imho. E6430 allows UEFI vars to be configured where you'll be able to unlock the extra +400Mhz turbo bins. Also has the backlit keyboard option and is the most eGPU friendly of the three.
  20. It's available at https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/files/file/87-diy-e-gpu-setup-130-by-Tech Inferno Fan/
  21. From your Lenovo E560 with Setup 1.30 installed, start an DOS prompt (admin), then type 'cd \egpu\utils' followed by 'setpci -s 0:1f.0 2.w'. Pls note the result of that command on your system, eg: 1e55 below. C:\WINDOWS\system32>cd\egpu\pciutils C:\eGPU\pciutils>setpci -s 0:1f.0 2.w 1e55 C:\eGPU\pciutils>
  22. There is no WLAN whitelist on the Ivy Bridge Elitebooks. There is however a WWAN whitelist. Topics covered in the 2570P Owner's thread. +1 for superior build of Elitebooks.
  23. 14" 8470P has larger chassis with better cooling system to deal with a i7-quad. It also has a 1600x900 LCD option. 12.5"2570P is a noticably smaller footprint. You may want to also look at a 14" Dell E6430 which has a lot more performance customisation options via UEFI variables as explained on owner's thread on here. All three use socketted 3rd gen i-core CPUs (Ivy Bridge).
