  1. Hi All, I spoke with Lenovo Idea Tech Support and explained my frustration with the whitelist for wireless cards. I ended up speaking with a supervisor (Derick (Employee # 121188) who claims that he has submitted a case with their engineering department and has assured me that there will be a BIOS update released with the whitelist removed. I'm not sure how reliable this information is but I did receive a case number and will keep in contact with Lenovo until this promise is fulfilled. I will keep this thread updated along the way in case any useful information, updates, etc come from this case. Wish Me Luck!!! -Phil
  2. My card would disappear from device manager and it would take a hundred reboots, safe mode, uninstall/reinstall drivers and software, etc just to get it to work for another few minutes. Lenovo really needs to reconsider their whitelist or provide viable upgrade options ASAP.
  3. I searched and searched for an NGFF SSD for this machine and came out with nothing. I ended up buying a Samsung EVO 840 and installing it in the 2.5'' main HD slot and I ordered an Ultrabay HD caddy from a third party for about 15 bucks and installed my 1TB drive there. Plus, my machine came with the 24gb ssd as a cache drive so things are zipping along nicely.
  4. Windows 8 is garbage in my opinion. Microsoft designed it for complete idiots and failed to provide some kind of "advanced mode" for those of us who use our PC's for productivity rather than gimmicky games and apps from the Market.
  5. THANK YOU!!!! I love this machine and for the price, nothing cat beat it. It's a shame that Lenovo places bogus restrictions on hardware upgrades that are fully compatible with the system other than their stupid BIOS whitelist. This sounds like it may be illegal according to FTC regulations.
  6. I purchased the Samsung EVO 840 250GB SSD and moved the 1TB drive to the DVD slot with the help of a cheap piece of hardware that houses the drive and allows the locking mechanism to work as well. I go from power off to desktop in less than 6 seconds with my SSD. It's awesome and wouldn't have it any other way.
