Should have been more clear, sorry, I meant Lenovo specific drivers. The nvidia drivers go without saying for me. I had a dell laptop a few years back that required a specific order of install for the dell specific drivers, which is why I ask

Member Introduction Thread - Post Here!

Hey everyone, I'm new to this awesome forum and was directed here through searching about my Lenovo Y500. The work people here have done with custom bios is amazing. Anyway, I usually game on my desktop but recently was able to get my wife to join me in a game called Natural Selection 2. She was using my Y500 which only had a single gt650m at the time, and performance was pretty bad (like 30fps in 768p and low settings). So after reading through these forums I bought another 650m and have already seen a huge performance increase. Can't wait to see even more improvement after custom bios and subsequent overclocking. -
Hey noes, even if you did some big upgrades you probably wouldnt notice much performance increase in Arma. The game is just very poorly optimized and hardly utilizes any more than two cores.

For those who did clean installs: Did Win8 take care of all the drivers or did you have to download some stuff from the lenovo site?

How is the range on the bigfoot? That is the most important factor for me at the moment.- 35 replies

Caveat for those who disassemble their Y500s- when you pry off the keyboard make sure not to pry the superficial keyboard cover, but put pressure on the deeper part instead. Otherwise the plastic that goes around the keys gets its tabs broken and isn't as locked in once reassembled.
