What is the best bang/buck laptop brand?

I'd say it depends on your price range. In the <$800 range, Acer has some pretty powerful laptops for relatively cheap. At around the $800 mark, I'd say the Lenovo Y series takes over as better bang for buck. -
I've been using my 3830TG for awhile now, and it was super cheap considering the hardware. It came with an i3, but I've upgraded it to an i5-2540m. Combined with the GT540m, it's a reasonably capable gamer. The display isn't fantastic, and the build quality is typical Acer. All in all, it's been a great laptop for the price.
