  1. Hi all,

First time on these forums, and for a very selfish purpose!

I have a MSI Force 1761 whitebook. The 570m card died after 18 months of faithful service. :(

I've been reading that it's not as simple as just choosing another graphics card which looks like it will fit... I was hoping you could save a GPU noob a lot of time by listing which graphics cards aside from the 570m would be compatible. My processor is a i7-2670QM at 2.2-3.1GHz.

I dont know about this personally but some guys have mentioned how they got a 770m and 670m working with it. I am not sure about this and would PM them for help before buying anything.

  2. @Klem , i'd flashed your vbios for 750m ultrabay on w8.1... but i just cannot overclock past 135mhz, i mean i can apply 300mhz core clock but suddenly during playing games, the games force close and the core clock returns to its original value 1058mhz.... can you fix it?

You overclocked too much and it crashed. Try lower clocks or increase voltage if that is possible.

  3. I was hoping for GK110, but I guess they won't do such a thing again after the 480m... :D

880m makes absolutely zero sense at this time, but looking back at Fermi it seems that this is the way it works nowadays... 485m -> 580m -> 675m. Heck, they even sold at least one Fermi chip named as 700 series.

This situation is similar, Nvidia is just milking the cow, even worse than AMD. There was no reason to wait one year for the 780m, the could have done that from the very start.

Now if they released a GK110 based mobile card, say with 10SMX, that would have been an impressive move. But this 8 GB version of the 780m makes no sense at all. Every 780m can handle the increased clocks easily 24/7.

EDIT: Btw., 8GB will overclock worse than 4GB. Especially if they stay with Elpida, hahaha

Can you explain why an 8gb card will overclock worse than a 4gb one? I think you are right about the memory, I dont know any game which uses above 2.5gb vram on a single 1080p screen and I really doubt whether these things are powerful enough for 4k. Unless you count modded skyrim.

  4. I dont know about the processor but the 680m and 7970m are somewhat equal in games while overclocked. Some games perform better on ati and some on nvidia but the 680m gets better scores in benchmarks. I would recommend getting the cheaper card.

  5. I will try this. Just ordered this gtx770m: New Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M 3GB DDR5 MXM 3.0 Type B for MSI Alienware | eBay Unsucessfully tried to upgrade from 570m to 670mx - but no luck - no post, no boot. If I get the 770m to work I'd be really happy as I still like my 1761 based Erazor X7815. Had a really good performance/price ratio and I do not think the CPU (Intel Core i7-2670QM) is an issue even with latest games as they just started to use all 4 cores... I'd expect at least x1.5 speed upgrade - however not more as I was able to OC the old beast to whooping 1600Mhz (800Mhz Base clock) with a modded bios. Will keep you posted... Anyway - I'm unsure what to do with the unlucky gtx670mx module. It was from a good seller at ebay and I think it is working (in general - not in my notebook). Any suggestions by luck ?

You managed to run a 570m at 1600mhz core clock?

  6. Optimus was introduced in the gt60/70 series ,you can't enable the integrated graphics on the older notebooks since the igp is not wired for use.Try reseating the card first and see if that helps (not likely) if not then you need to replace the video card.

I wish they had kept it like that. Too many games only recognize my intel hd4000 instead of my dedicated gpu. Even worse is when they prevent you from accessing certain graphics options because they think you have an igpu.

  7. Hello ,

In last time i have very big problem, my gtx460 is broken all time crash etc. I do many reinstall Os and graphic drivers and still I get nvidia kernel error and system crash. Is any option to turn only internal graphic in my i5 2410m ?

I'm flash BIOS to unlocked version but Idk what I need to change to dont get a black screen?

    arras5

It uses the integrated hd gpu by default. To disable the nvidia gpu, go to nvidia control panel and go to manage 3d settings, select global settings and change preferred graphics processor from auto select to integrated graphics.

    Editing bios is not needed.

  8. mhh this could be possible... because the drops only happens if i do fast movements !

Thank you but first i must buy a ssd ;)

    happy christmas to all !

ps: if anybody knows more please post it!!

If these games were working properly before, try defragmenting your hdd.

What about when you are not overclocking? Is it ok then?

  9. i have my gpu overclocked to 1070mhz on 1.05 v.

    its on all games ..

Does it always occur at a given point? Perhaps it is because the game is loading, I had this problem in bioshock infinite where it would freeze for about 1 sec while I went from one area to another. Putting the game on ssd fixed it for me.

  10. the temperatures goes from 65-75 Celcius on my 770m

i think this aren't temperatures for throtteling..

the crazy thing is that the gpu usage falls down only for a second. :// and then it rises to 99% again

Yeah, those are pretty low temps. Is your gpu overclocked? What are you using while this occurs?

  11. Hey how far are you able to get your 675mx to overclock? I currently have the same laptop and have been thinking about updating my vbios to overclock mine, either that or upgrading to the 680m

There is a very small difference between 675mx and 680m. Get a modded vbios and overclock, you can hit 1000mhz core on default voltage.

  12. You guys seem to be using low core clocks. On the default voltage (1.012) I can hit 1008 mhz core without problems along with 1200mhz memory. My card is less powerful than yours (675mx)

  13. A bit more info about what gnikolaides said:

    1. You can use rivatuner to limit fps to 58 or 59 (just 1 fps below max)

    2. rivatuner does not work on 64bit bit version of bf4 or any 64 bit app. So make sure to use 32 bit.

    3. There is no core parking in windows 8 or 8.1, only earlier versions of windows have it.

Does anyone know about a program like rivatuner for 64bit apps?
