  1. Yes its from the y510 but it doesnt matter as the video cards are pretty much the same (excluding mby some timings' differences but who cares :D ). Anyway i still havent found a way to overclock.

Its getting really boring. I hope thats not the future where nobody can overclock.

P.S. heard that some of the newest nvidia drivers disables 135mhz limit, anyone ?

Do you mean the vbios for the graphics card or the system bios? If you mean vbios of the 765m, just post it here and I will mod it to go above +135 limit.

  2. Cheers for the reply. :-) So, was it like that from the beginning for you, or do you think it's something that's been enabled in one of the drivers in the not so distant past? I'm pretty sure I've not seen it before (but I could be wrong!).

I dont normally use nvidia inspector but I think I remember seeing that option when I opened that program a few months ago. I quickly lost interest in it since that option doesn't do anything for me.

  3. @svl7, I noticed something has changed in NVidia Inspector recently, I think it's due to the latest NVidia drivers. I noticed that 'Prioritise Temperature' has suddenly become a choosable & configurable option, previously it was greyed out, or not there at all (as far as I can remember). I thought this might be of use or of interest to you. Do you know why that has suddenly become a configurable option with the latest drivers? Could it have anything to do with why in the latest drivers users like Mr Fox have had throttling problems since installing the latest drivers (and apparently can't be fixed by installing previous drivers)?

Here's a pic showing what I'm talking about re 'Prioritize Temperature':

I have had that option for a while, even before updating to latest nvidia drivers. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything. I can change the slider, but when I hit apply, it goes back to 87C: http://i.imgur.com/zCaoqtj.png

I just change my GPU to 880m(msi gt70),but it always throttle!

Is modded vbios can fix this problem?

Waiting for the svl7's 880m mod vbios!

Yep, a properly modded vbios can fix this. Unfortunately, there is no properly modded vbios for the 880m available right now.

  4. +600 limit! For 880? Why? Are you seen the stock core clock in GTX 880M? Are you read this page: Nvidia GTX 880m review

Modification of vbios for 780 and 880 is not simple. It is very difficult and requires very accurate selection of combinations of voltage, Power Limit, Power Target and core frequency.

Grrr... You are right. I started working on it again and I got the boost disabled, the voltage up but the power table is a fucking mess. I think we should wait for svl7. Or for a guinea pig for testing :D

Yep, you're right. I just gave it a high limit in case he wants to experiment. I will be working on the power target and voltage later since I was in a rush to go eat lunch. It would also help if I had a tester. I am just changing one thing at a time because I don't want to screw up and destroy anything with an unfamiliar card :)

  6. you have to set the application to use the nvidia gpu using the nvidia control panel or by right clicking and using the run with graphics processor option

It is using the nvidia gpu. The problem is that the game thinks that it is working on the igpu instead of the nvidia gpu and therefore greys out certain graphic options.

  7. Thank you all!!

    Worked perfectly!

Special thanks for svl7 for making this possible...

    Just for future attempts:

    Specs:

    - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M

    - Device ID: 10DE - 11E0

    - Original subvendor and modded by Nvidia 770m - 80.06.51.00.0F 'OC edition' : CLEVO/KAPOK (1558)

    -Before and after driver: nvlddmkm 9.18.13.3489 (ForceWare 334.89) / Win8.1 64

    -REV: A1

    -Stock VBIOS: 80.06.51.00.30 (P2303-1e00)

Nice, now go post some benchmarks while on stock and OCed.

  8. As seen in: Change Erazer X7813 Graphics Card - Page 2 - Medion - 4 Gamers Notebooks

The OP flashed from .30 to .11 MSI VBIOS...

I will try soon after the admin unlocks my user permissions...

    Thanks again!

EDIT: haha, just got unlocked after posting this... Hopefully flashing it isn't risky... One more question, does the MSI/ASUS version works with CLEVO?

I tried the clevo 675mx vbios with my MSI once. It didn't brick completely but I couldn't use the card until I flashed the msi vbios again. So most likely flashing an asus or msi vbios on a clevo would do the same thing.

  9. ASUS G46VW (GTX 660m)

    STOCK vBIOS

Forced Stable (The clock speeds will always be at the speed no matter what.....well, until I reset them):

    GPU Clock: 1120 Mhz

    Memory Clock: 3125 Mhz

Gaming Temps (Battlefield 4, Thief, Crysis 3, ect):

    Load/Active: 70-72 Celcius

Those are some pretty good temps. What fps do you get in bf4 and crysis 3?

  10. With SLI in the y510p you've already got effectively 4gb of dedicated graphics memory (2gb per card). Thats more than enough for most new games and at this point the games will lag because the cards are not powerful enough to run them, not because you don't have enough graphics memory.

VRAM doesn't combine in SLI. You wiill only get 2gb. SLI | FAQ | GeForce

  11. No, increasing your ram is not going to give you increased graphical performance in games. 8gb is more than enough for any game that is currently available. However, iGPUs (eg: intel hd 4000) benefit from using faster ram since they do not have their own dedicated memory.
