Considering that the r9 290xm is a 8970m, which is a 7970m that cannot have the memory overclocked, you now have your performance comparison.
None of them can overclock memory? How about the core clock? Is it even advisable to overclock that card considering it runs at about 90C at stock?

Cheers for the reply. :-) So, was it like that from the beginning for you, or do you think it's something that's been enabled in one of the drivers in the not so distant past? I'm pretty sure I've not seen it before (but I could be wrong!).
I dont normally use nvidia inspector but I think I remember seeing that option when I opened that program a few months ago. I quickly lost interest in it since that option doesn't do anything for me.

@svl7, I noticed something has changed in NVidia Inspector recently, I think it's due to the latest NVidia drivers. I noticed that 'Prioritise Temperature' has suddenly become a choosable & configurable option, previously it was greyed out, or not there at all (as far as I can remember). I thought this might be of use or of interest to you. Do you know why that has suddenly become a configurable option with the latest drivers? Could it have anything to do with why in the latest drivers users like Mr Fox have had throttling problems since installing the latest drivers (and apparently can't be fixed by installing previous drivers)?
Here's a pic showing what I'm talking about re 'Prioritize Temperature':
I have had that option for a while, even before updating to latest nvidia drivers. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything. I can change the slider, but when I hit apply, it goes back to 87C: http://i.imgur.com/zCaoqtj.png

I just change my GPU to 880m(msi gt70),but it always throttle! Is modded vbios can fix this problem?
Waiting for the svl7's 880m mod vbios!
Yep, a properly modded vbios can fix this. Unfortunately, there is no properly modded vbios for the 880m available right now.

All hail fantastic mr.fox

+600 limit! For 880? Why? Are you seen the stock core clock in GTX 880M? Are you read this page: Nvidia GTX 880m review
Modification of vbios for 780 and 880 is not simple. It is very difficult and requires very accurate selection of combinations of voltage, Power Limit, Power Target and core frequency.
Grrr... You are right. I started working on it again and I got the boost disabled, the voltage up but the power table is a fucking mess. I think we should wait for svl7. Or for a guinea pig for testing

Yep, you're right. I just gave it a high limit in case he wants to experiment. I will be working on the power target and voltage later since I was in a rush to go eat lunch. It would also help if I had a tester. I am just changing one thing at a time because I don't want to screw up and destroy anything with an unfamiliar card

I don't know if you are interested, but I have a MSI GT60 here with the 880m in it if you need a vbios dump from it.
I only gave it a +600 core clock limit tweakable with msi afterburner, nvidia inspector etc. Tell me if you need anything else like increased voltage, disabled boost or whatnot.

Try flashing the beta EC from here. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162629.0

you have to set the application to use the nvidia gpu using the nvidia control panel or by right clicking and using the run with graphics processor option
It is using the nvidia gpu. The problem is that the game thinks that it is working on the igpu instead of the nvidia gpu and therefore greys out certain graphic options.

I am planning on getting the 780m on the alienware 17 and I noticed that the clocks for it are quite low at 771/797Mhz. So would the unlocked BIOS increase the clocks by default? I ask because I have seen screenshots of 780Ms with default clocks of 850MHz.
The 780m vbios posted here has a stock core clock of 850Mhz. So yes, it would increase clocks by default.

Thank you all!!
Worked perfectly!
Special thanks for svl7 for making this possible...
Just for future attempts:
Specs:
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M
- Device ID: 10DE - 11E0
- Original subvendor and modded by Nvidia 770m - 80.06.51.00.0F 'OC edition' : CLEVO/KAPOK (1558)
-Before and after driver: nvlddmkm 9.18.13.3489 (ForceWare 334.89) / Win8.1 64
-REV: A1
-Stock VBIOS: 80.06.51.00.30 (P2303-1e00)
Nice, now go post some benchmarks while on stock and OCed.

Thanks!
Hmm, there are 3 770m files, is the first one generic? no subvendor?
Yes, I think it works for all like the 780m vbios does. If you have clevo/dell, grab the first 770m vbios.

As seen in: Change Erazer X7813 Graphics Card - Page 2 - Medion - 4 Gamers Notebooks
The OP flashed from .30 to .11 MSI VBIOS...
I will try soon after the admin unlocks my user permissions...
Thanks again!
EDIT: haha, just got unlocked after posting this... Hopefully flashing it isn't risky... One more question, does the MSI/ASUS version works with CLEVO?
I tried the clevo 675mx vbios with my MSI once. It didn't brick completely but I couldn't use the card until I flashed the msi vbios again. So most likely flashing an asus or msi vbios on a clevo would do the same thing.

except for Anti-Aliasing (or whatever that setting that renders the game at a larger resolution then shrinks it down to the played resolution).
Thats called super sampling anti aliasing. There are other methods of anti aliasing as well.

ASUS G46VW (GTX 660m)
STOCK vBIOS
Forced Stable (The clock speeds will always be at the speed no matter what.....well, until I reset them):
GPU Clock: 1120 Mhz
Memory Clock: 3125 Mhz
Gaming Temps (Battlefield 4, Thief, Crysis 3, ect):
Load/Active: 70-72 Celcius
Those are some pretty good temps. What fps do you get in bf4 and crysis 3?
-
I think he said that it was throttling because it was warming up too much.
-
hi svl7
here is the GTX 880m vbios,
could you please unlock the voltage and OC limit?
thank you!
the vbios is the MSI version。
I unlocked the core clock limit. No idea how to unlock voltage. I can set it up a bit if you want.

Yeah, its pretty much a hazing simulator with no zombies now.

Damn, you guys are huge.

With SLI in the y510p you've already got effectively 4gb of dedicated graphics memory (2gb per card). Thats more than enough for most new games and at this point the games will lag because the cards are not powerful enough to run them, not because you don't have enough graphics memory.
VRAM doesn't combine in SLI. You wiill only get 2gb. SLI | FAQ | GeForce
-
No, increasing your ram is not going to give you increased graphical performance in games. 8gb is more than enough for any game that is currently available. However, iGPUs (eg: intel hd 4000) benefit from using faster ram since they do not have their own dedicated memory.

What klem said will work too.

Here it is.
Tell me if this works properly: savedOKedit.zip
PM me if it doesn't.
Edit: Here is another with even more voltage: 675mx edit.zip

That would be awesome man. I used to have an overclock close to that so it just sucks now haha. Thank you all for your help. I am trying to upload it but it keeps telling me that my file is invalid. I was tried sending it by itself and also sending it as a .RAR file. Do i have to upload it to another site first?
Just compress to .zip instead of rar.
ACER V3 772G bios for overpassing 135mhz overlock limit

Do you mean the vbios for the graphics card or the system bios? If you mean vbios of the 765m, just post it here and I will mod it to go above +135 limit.
