  1. Whats up GUys. I am new to this forum but i am considering purchasing an Alienware 18. here are the main specs Intel Core i7-4910MQ Quad Core processor Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M graphics with 16GB total (2x 8GB) GDDR5 - NVIDIA SLI Enabled 1 TB RAID (7200RPM) + 80GB mSATA SSD Caching 32GB Dual Channel DDR3: at 1600MHz Dual layer Blu-Ray Writer/Reader (BDRE, DVDRW, CDRW). I have a Sager NP9380-S but it has been discontinued and its not really a looker so i wanted to get an Alienware 18 for the screen size and the fact that Alienware is also a BEAST of a laptop. I was considering getting an upgrade to the 880m for my 9380-s but i saw when the cards came out from JohnKiss's review that they throttle at real bad. Looking and researching the forums i guess the issue of the cards throttling has NOT been addressed. I am still thinking of getting the ALIENWARE and just use 780m drivers until the issue of throttling is addressed. How are the framerates for games with theses cards? How bad is it throttling now with new 880m drivers? I wanted 2 play watchdogs and hopefully GTA V when it comes out and hopefully i can get 60fps+ with these cards and a good vbios or driver. Any thoughts or incites? Has anyone tried the vbios mod from SV7 and JohnKiss in the Alienware 18? If it fixes the thrrottling issues i will make the green light the purchase of the Alienware 18. By the way Sv7 and JohnKiss i appreciate you guys hard work on this issue. I would owe you guys a beer and a burger on me. LOL...thanks.

  3. hey Bud. i have the same setup you have and i try to overclock my cpu slightly and when i try to reboot my laptop will not start. i have to take the battery out and press the powerkey for a minute for it to reboot. Yes. i have overclocked the gpu's to the 880ms specs but Crysis 2 and 3 along with Sleeping Dogs and Tomb Raider will crash. I have seen on sum of the tests by JohnKiss and others that the 880ms throttle real bad. It will need a good vbios to stop the throttling to get the most out of the cards for me to even consider the upgrade. At this point i see no need to get them. The 780ms seem to be the sweet spot at this point.
  4. The NP9380s and NP9390s have been discontinued but i hope they fix this issue with the new 880m cards in the rebrands of the new machine so no one else has this problem.
  5. Hey Prema. Enjoy your holiday bud. I wanted to try your custom bios for the CLEVO P370SM. Is there any way to flash save the stock bios or a way flash the bios to stock in case of a return for RMA? I would like to get a custom bios with a custom picture startup screen. What are the requirements to send you a private message to see if you can do this for me? Thanks.
  6. WOW. BUD. That sucks. I dont use 3D much either but it does look cool. I am thinking of putting applying some artic silver to the Cpu and GPUS. any suggestions?
  7. LOL. Good advice BUD. The Nvidia driver was ok i just had the power state on the cards at zero thats why i had microstutter. When i updated the driver it reset the power state but its good now. I reset the clocks back and reset the power state and its a GOod now. Getting 80FPS+ on tomb raider maxed out with FXAA and Sleeeping Dogs getting 100FPS+ on extreme settings. This driver has made a good boost to performance.LOL.
  8. Yeah i have +100mhz on the core clocks and a +250mhz on the memory clock. i will do further test but it seems to be running ok with these values.
  9. I am using MSI afterburner and put the slight overclock back on the cards and it has fixed the microstutter but i am going to play a couple more games for about an hour to see if the laptop crashes..
  10. Hey Guys. I updated to the latest nvidia 331.xx drivers and was getting great framerates then the games would crash and i would have to reboot. So i rolled back to the default cd driver and updated to the 331.xx before this last driver and now i have microstuter on some of the games like tomb raider and splinter cell with SLI enabled and the games will not go above 26fps . UGH. Any ideas?

  12. Thanks Bud...good to see that the vbios works. So all sager did was format the HD and send it back? That's definitely unacceptable . I am having issues with the new nvidia 331.xx drivers with stuttering. Anyone else having a problem with the new drivers?
  13. Thanks Prema and SV7. You Guys have been a BIG HELP. And Bud i appreciate the youtube because i thought i had a blown card! Im gonna have to get you guys a beer and join that elite status!!!!
  14. Hi Prema. I am not sure if this is a reposted question or not but does anyone have an updated bios for the sager np9380-s 3D?
  15. The vbios has been confirmed on NBR. he has screenshots posted showing the vbios update. That would explain why it works with just one gpu.
  16. Following this same topic thread on NBR the Vbios seems to fix the problem. Pics were posted with the updated vbios and he says it running great. Prema tried to send me the vbios but i could not download it yet. Since all of us are having the same issue we all should cintact sager and complain to them about this issue. This is definitely bad business tactics especially with the price of these laptops. I am gonna wait and see what Xotic can do about every ones RMA. I maxed my laptop out to play in full screen HD with 60fps+ on my games and sager should do more research before putting the wrong vbios in these machines. Prema said an old bios is in these laptops as well so Sager needs to do better.I am gonna deal with it right now until i see if sager or xotic can put an updated bios up.
  17. I saw someone try the vbios on nbr and it seems to be working . I could not get the vbios to try it but I am using the lasted nvidia drivers and after I change the refresh rate in game and then restart the it does not flicker as much. I am awaiting the results of your RMA but I can't send mine in yet because I'm in school. I can't XOTIC would say its not that bad. With the cost of these laptop s it should not there at all..
  18. Hey Prema. I am having the same issue. The main bios version is 1.00.02SL1. The Vbios is 80.04.BD.00.05. any help or suggestion you give will be appreciated.
  19. hey everyone and prema. new to this forum. is there a modified bios for the NP9380-s? i did not see one in the prema mod list. Does any one know how to install the custom vbios for the sli nvidia70m?
