  1. I doubt that dell will release the schematic for the board. People will start reproducing their own version of alienware. At least I will try to solder some stuff on it for sure.
  2. No! I attempted to do the same thing, but I doubled check with the tech support from dell. They clearly said that it will not work! I was hoping someone could try it out and maybe post their experience to see if it actually works or not!
  3. windows 7 for sure! I have seen too many complaints about windows 8. Do not tempt to try it out yourself. Microsoft really messed up on this one. It is a really good idea to try to consolidate tablet system and desktop system together, but microsoft made a horrible mistake when they executed the plan. Instead of giving users the control over with system to use, they forced all the users to use the same system which is a wired hybrid (tablet + desktop) system that works very slow and give users no chance to switch to tablet only or desktop only system.
  4. I do not recommend samsung ssd. it's very much overrated! I started to have issues copying big files after I switch from kingston ssd to samsung 840. most of the time, the big files get corrupted, and I have to do checksum to make sure the files are copied to external drive correctly. It's very time consuming! Not sure if others have the same issue.
  5. I have a R1 for over 3 years now, but to be honest, I wouldn't recommend to get one just because it's too heavy and too thick. but if u r into gaming everywhere u go and want to have a nice keyboard, u should get one. I have never had any problem with my alienware by the way.
  6. I have been using samsung for a while now. I had a kingston one. couldn't notice the difference. I bought samsung because I needed big space, and I read a lot of good reviews about it. To be honest, I don't notice samsung ssd is better than the one I previously had, nor did I notice samsung ssd uses less power. To be honest, I am pretty disappointed now because I always get error when I move large files around. when I say error, meaning the check5sum value changes when I move large files. Literally moving files from one folder to the other on the same partition. the file got corrupted. If it's your first ssd, go with a cheaper one now, get a good one later on when the tech improves more.
