  1. Unplugged and detached ram for 30 minutes and it's working now. Thanks
  2. Hello. I just installed a used motherboard to my sager p157sm. When I try to power on, the light turns green, turbo light comes on, it stays that way for 29 to 39 seconds, turns off then automatically turns itself on again following same cycle all around. I ve reseated fans and gpu and also tried booting without gpu which also didn t work out. I tried booting with a single ram and changing ram slots and also tried a CMOS reset and nothing. Any help will be appreciated. Btw, board was confirmed working before this escapade.

  4. Solved it by doing a CMOS battery reset. Thanks guys
  5. Secure boot disabled and grayed out. Uefi is enabled and grayed out no option for fastboot. This is why I'm confused.
  6. Hello. I'm currently running windows 10 on bios version 1.00 and want to upgrade to 1.03 but cannot boot Ms dos flash in uefi. There is no option to enable Legacy mode and the option to disable uefi in bios is greed out. When I try booting from flash in bios, it shows black screen and returns back to bios screen. My rig is a p157sm. Any help will be appreciated as I'm looking to install prema bios mod.
  7. Error occurs whether or not discrete gpu is installed. Removed the fan also and still has the error. I'm beginning to think it has to do with the board. Some people said they had their board replaced and it was cool. Some said the error started weeks after they purchased and some said years after. Was looking to purchase a 970m for it but now I'm changing my mind. Don't wanna change the system because of the removable CPU.
  8. Hello everyone. Just got a used sager p157sm for a gpu upgrade project and noticed it beeps for a minute then shuts down by itself when under load. It does well when watching movies but when benchmarking the issue pops up. At first I thought it was the gpu so I unplugged it but still occurs. Now it's running only CPU and still does the same things after repasting. Temps of CPU remain along 80 - 87 degrees centigrade. I've cleaned system components and changed Ram modules and slots still nothing. Any help will be appreciated.
  9. No. Got an alienware 17. I figure the best option is to replace the GPU.
  10. Hello everyone. Recently, I had an issue in which my screen goes blank after startup while system is still running. I read online and was told the gpu was bad and needed to be replaced. However, today I repasted it, removed the thermal pads on the black square thingys facing the heatsink (memory modules i think) and replaced them with thermal paste but left the pads on the other side of the chip in tact. When I put on my system, it all went fine. Currently not experiencing the black screens anymore unless I fire up a game and leave it to run for 5 minutes. Then i noticed that the vrm temp (through hwinfo64) shows twice with different readings. 1 stays at 46-ish degrees while the other goes up to 110 degrees like it used to before then screen blacks out. My query is, can anyone explain to me the 2 readings? is it a fluke or bug? and also, any help with the vrm? I have attached a screenshot. Thank you.
  11. Does 3d still work after the update? If no, can the LCD panel still run at 120hz?
  12. Is it possible/OK to mod it on the wire? Eg. Cut the wires, link them with the I'd chip and house with the ferret.
  13. Hello all. I have an m17x r4 and I'm about to outfit it with a 980m BT I have a few questions. 1. Will options still work with 980m 2. Does it still do 3d on the r4 with 120hz screens 3. I use a 330w adapter. Anyone know where or who can help with the attachment mod to unlock the full power of the 330w? I'll be happy to pay for it. Thank you.
  14. Hello Mr. Fox. I wish to request your assistance in modding 330wats adapter with 240watts id chip. I tried opening my 330 but it was a mess. I wish to ask if you can help me with an external mod with the id chip. Please let me know. My soldering skills are next to miserable. Thank you.

  15. so we just need to solder those 2 wires in and thats it? I'm trying to clarify as i have never done a thing like this before but would like to. A video will be nice though, didn'nt understand half of what was written there.
  16. i'm using an m17x r4 and 330 watts adapter works for me. The only thing is that it is locked at 240 watts. I did not modify anything on the charger since i bout it. The first day i got it, it was giving me the full 330 watts goodness and both cpu and gpu were blazing fast and stable. After the first day it just seems normal. I am from Nigeria and had to order mine on amazon US as i couldnt find it here and dell has no stores here either. Mr fox. Can u help me out with the 240 watts lock issue?
  17. I eventually got a 330watts charger and on the first day my system was super fast. There's a theory that when you give the system more power than it needs it gets more efficient and you may get up to 10% more performance. On my first day, that seemed to be the case as my processor ran on overclock flawlessly and my gpu ran on 800mhz oc without any issues. However, from the next day, the situation changed. Now everything is running like it is using the 240watts charger. read somewhere that the 330watts defaults to 240watts after some time on the m17x and people decided to mod 2 240watts or 2 330watts together. Any one know why it defaults to 240?
  18. Because mickyd1234 is too awesome and really looked out for us and i'm sure a lot of u will be looking to this post still for a way to make it work, here is the link http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware/8113-going-test-clevo-980m-alienware-m17x-r4-m18x-r2-aw17-40.html#post114420 . Card not sells on ebay so Good luck guys. I'm getting mine on my birthday so cheers.
  19. Ouch. Currently playing NFS underground 2 because if this. Any game more demanding and the charger shuts down.
  20. Please can someone give me an m18x charger out of good will? Currently can't afford one and I'm stuck with two bad chargers. Pretty please. You could pm me if u wannna.
  21. So I just got an original 240 watts adapter yesterday from a local store cuz I couldn't wait long enough to order the 330w online and it wasn't available locally and it works great. But now I've run into another problem. When playing tomb raider, my laptop automatically stops collecting power from the Ac and switches to battery after 3minutes of gaming. I quit the game, unplug n plug back in and still doesn't recognize it. But after a shutdown, it does. But entering tomb raider again brings up the issue. Anyone had this? BTW GPU was over clocked to 700mhz from 620. Its a gtx 675. Just tried with battlefield 4 and ultra street fighter. The same thing happens even without over clock. GPU temp at 71°c and CPU at 76°c (core i7 3820xm) when it happened. Their max temps ever before now with hardcore gaming are 78 and 84 respectively. I forgot to check the chip set. Anyone have any ideas? EDIT Found the issue. The new charger was refurbished and thus couldn't carry my system under full load. Now I'm stuck on this ...
  22. Read on notebookreview that m18x charger works. Meanwhile what's d probability that a charger spills quickly due to reaching its max amount of output too often. Also heard of slight performance gains using a 330 watts charger due to more current available to the board
  23. Yeah. Saw a lot there from hong Kong and China, and that's why I'm here asking. I hear an m18x charger works for us too. Is that true? I want to upgrade my GPU to a 780m and possibly future proof it for a 980m
