  1. Nvidia sucks on so many levels right now, I don't even know where to start.
  2. Thanks for the vbios mod! Sorry if I wasn't clear when I posted it though. I actually don't need it modded. I was working on the machine to set it up for someone else at work and thought I would post a vbios dump from it in case anyone was interested in having it.
  3. I don't know if you are interested, but I have a MSI GT60 here with the 880m in it if you need a vbios dump from it. GTX 880m.zip
  4. You were correct. IE on both machines would not download them accurately, but Firefox did. Sorry to bother you.
  5. Hi svl7 - I have download all four of the MSI 680m vbios from the second post. Each one when I click on the zip file after I have downloaded them says that the file is invalid. I am able to manually extract the contents though. Each file inside does not seem to have the .rom extention, but part of the filename itself as the extention. I've tried this from two different computers with the same result. If I rename each vbios file with a .rom extention, I get some very persistent warnings from nvflash when attempting to flash that make me think something is wrong. The messages are not the normal run of the mill messages that you see when flashing. Am I losing my mind, or is there something wrong with the files?
  6. Bought you a few beers, sir. Last week actually. Nonetheless, I've said it before and I will say it again, thank you very much for everything that you have done and will continue to do (hopefully) in the modding community. Without your efforts, none of us would be able to push these systems to the performance levels that are being seen.
  7. OH.......MY.......GAWD! Seriously though, that is a really nice score. Can't wait to see the finished product!
  8. My first suggestion would be to see if the fan intake and fan outlet is blocked by dust of any kind. If it is, it will prevent the cooling system from keeping the GPU temps under control. Also, it may not be a bad idea to take the bottom panel off and blow a can of compressed air into the fan itself to blow out the dust. Not the whole can obviously, but just a little to clean it out.
  9. I'm no longer running the stock vbios (don't know what version it is) but I made a backup of it before I flashed both cards (680m). Would you like a copy of it?
  10. True. Is the throttling with these cards related in any way to the dynamic clocking that they do? Or are they one in the same?
  11. The standard 850 does not throttle for me either. The modified 900 oc/ov one does though. From what I have read, a standard vbios set to 900 is pushing the max boundary of what it will do on stock voltage.
  12. I would recommend trying the vbios named "Dell 680m - 850 base - 889 boost - OV - OC" on the first page. That one seems to work well for me. I've been able to run the core at 1000 and the memory at 1200 with it. Afterburner does not show the core frequency increase, but it shows the memory. If using Afterburner does not change the clocks (you will only know if it's working by running benchmarks and comparing the before and after) then possibly also try nVidiaInspector to see if that works for you?
  13. Thanks. I'll just stick with what I have then for the time being. It seems to be more trouble than it's worth to upgrade, with no real benefit. I probably will cross flash to the unlocked A03 though once you put the Intel 11.6 ROM inside of it. In case I have not said so already, thank you very much for everything you have done with all of the bios/vbios files!
  14. Forgive me if I am missing something, but flashing to the latest bios only really offers the Secure Boot and that is it? Besides the mystery behind what Dell has changed between A03 and A08, I haven't seen anyone say that going from A03 to A08 (or anything higher than A03 for that matter) offers any real benefit?
  15. I found the cooler to have no effect, like Xonar said.
  16. Just wanted to say thank you Xonar for your work on this!
