  1. I have asked this in another thread which was incorrect of me and I apologize for that. I have an Alienware 17 with 16gig ram(DDR3) and came with a stock intel i7 4990qm overclocked at 4ghz, and Nvidia Geforce 780m graphics card. I installed EVGA precision X to raise the GPU throttle temp up to 85 degrees, but when benchmarking using 3D Mark 11 often the sotware will crash when doing the physics section of the bench, which leads me to believe this may have something to do with the CPU Does anyone have any ideas? I understand that flashing a vbios with give me more options in EVGA as many are greyed out currently including the power meter, fan speeds etc. But is there something that needs to be done to stop the CPU throttling as well?
  2. Ok I'll ask you here what I asked in another thread, even if you override the stock bios for the graphics card does that necessarily mean you're gonna be getting better benchmark scores, after all 3DMark11 scores your CPU as well, and I'm imagining dell and others have some max temp set for the CPU's as well no?
  3. I've heard that IC diamond can scratch the die no?
  4. Does this work for the 780M as well or just the GTX 780 desktop card?
  5. What I don't fully understand is even if you mod the vbios when running 3Dmark11 I'm pretty sure it's testing your CPU as well and if the bios is set to throttle with low CPU temps then would this vbios really do much? I ask this as I always seem to crash 3Dmark11 once it reaches the Physcis section of the test?
