  1. I've running 8GB at 1600MHz without any problems and from the documentation I received with my machine, that's the maximum speed/capacity it's rated for. I.e. that WILL (almost definitely) work, anything else might required some further fiddling... however looking at the responses above, a lot is possible here.
  2. I've had my M14x R1 for almost 2 years now and recently I've been considering some rather extreme ways to squeeze some more performance/longevity out of it and solve some of the more glaring issues I've been having - mainly heat and noise. And the it hit me: WATER COOLING! To which I replied: WHAT?! Anyhoo, after some searching around I've come across a few mods doing pretty much exactly what I had in mind, like this one: Dell XPS M1330 Notebook watercooling MOD, the little How to - YouTube Kindly have a look it this and let me know what you think, can it be done to an M14x? Feel free to share other similar projects you've come across...
  3. I'd say the answer to that question largely depends on your definition of the term 'good'... I love mine, but I also hate it sometimes. It's small an sleek, but it can feel clunky and slow sometimes - both physically and in terms of performance. It has heating issues (mainly cooling noise concerns to me), but anything with it's specs and age will... however if you can look past it and you can't get something faster within your budget, I'd still recommend it. I had mine for almost 2 years now and it's served me well... hiccups and all.
