  1. hmmm... a lighter weight, well rounded performer (possibly less frustrating drivers w/single gpu), w/nice battery life vs. a somewhat heavier, high performance (possibly somewhat more frustrating drivers w/dual gpu - perhaps a single gpu will be an option?), w/decent battery life (so long as igp is accessible)...
  2. hey there aikimox - great to see you and all the others! 15hrs would be some freakin' feat! half that on the M18x and i'd still be gobsmacked! most def. agree...
  3. hey there dookie - glad to see you and all the others joining the thread here! @partizan & dane: spot on - the new 'laptop' portfolio for alienware definitely looks to be M11x/M14x/M17x/M18x, which seems to be the perfect lineup imo...
  4. and 'speculation' as to whether or not the subsequent thread on the M14x would survive over at nbr was just 'officially' validated - thread closed. i take it as a clear indication that sometimes speculative conversation based on historical evidence and tangible facts proves to be reasonable and rationale afterall... with that said, it seems anyone with continued interest in 'speculating' about the M14x are free to do so here: http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware/196-alienware-m14x.html
  5. the new alienware M14x, pictured side-by-side with an M17x for comparison, posted here...
  6. so the M15x gets sandy bridge/larger display/etc. (M17x R3), as does the M17x R2 (M18x), throw in an M14x/etc. - and you call that regression?!?! oh, dear...
  7. this. and despite the article including alienware as a potential home for the product, it seems (taking into account recent dell press releases) that dell will be getting the new 'thin' adamo replacement/update unit...
  8. between the M17x R2 being taken off the alienware site this afternoon and cebit starting (asus just unveiled their g74 3d today at the show), either the relaunch of the M17x R3 single gpu powerhouse is imminent (possibly not only with the amd 6970m, but also nvidia 560m?!?!) or the lineups next dual gpu monster system (mythical M18x?) is on its way - or perhaps even both?!?! maybe just some wishful thinking, but would definitely be nice!
  9. much love! np, understand! you'll be (hopefully) getting the new revision, albeit with an inch or so larger screen in a chassis that's probably the same size as the earlier lineups R2! yikes, i definitely stand corrected then - i was under the impression the complaints were akin to the M11x R2 chassis complaints, lol! (six units floating around here atm serving their purpose quite nicely and *knock on wood* not a one with issues - no, not even hinges!) that's surprisingly silly they didn't just use the already existing coating from the M11x R2, which is a non-issue... go figure! most def. agree with this dane!
  10. ??? ??? there is general market enthusiasm for the new unit from both consumers (interest on par with M11x reception) and industry (ie: ign/laptopmag/hardwareheaven/etc./etc./etc.) alike... it seems you wouldn't have been interested in the current M15x, which is similar segment to the M17x R3, hence you fittingly purchased a M17x R2 and seems the (mythical) M18x will fit your needs perfectly when launched (probably summer 2011)...
  11. meh, what's any "disappointment" about? so there's a positive shift in the product lineup occuring which may require some patience (more now, no thanks to intel) while all reveals itself - no real biggie. i hate to do this, but a good analogy might just be cars. there's an M11x (cruze), forthcoming M13x or M14x (malibu), perhaps new M15x (camaro), new M17x (corvette), and 'mythical' M18x (ZR1). M17x R3 for those who want a 'sweet spot' system w/balanced performance/battery/size (almost same footprint as current M15x) with a single gpu that keeps pace with older dual gpu's (at relaunch), and new generation cpu's that (stock) outpace the fastest from the previous generation cpu's (stock). M18x (*ahem*, 'mythical' M18x...) will (more than likely) be for those who are more inclined to give two ishts less about any sort of balance and demand all out 'maximum performance' utilizing dual gpu's, and maybe even perhaps more extreme cpu's... M17x R3 simply blows any other manufacturers comparable (single gpu) offering out (especially when considering price), hence all the rave site reviews posting. and as to the "rut-roh", isn't the chassis on the M17x R3 similar to the M11x R2 dane? if so, there's no "rubbery" feel quite like the asus, and it definitely doesn't "flake off", so that's not really something all too concerning. the M17x R2 held it's respective place in the old lineup, and the M17x R3 will hold its respective place in the new lineup - after all is said and done, all alienware customers will (hopefully) get their needs met. but hate on if necessarry, eh? lol
  12. yep, when it's relaunched that's all still in place - which is why the curiousness to the launch window on the M18x as well...
  13. and to think i was all excited dell (or the like) might be dropping in to help launch the site by revealing some exclusive new product information... only to enter the thread and find in reality dell themselves ironically seeking information on their own product, lol - geesh!
  14. may consider it - but if the M17x R3 actually gets relaunched here soon, it might just be the well balanced (performance/weight/battery life) unit atm...
  15. lol now, if only we could squeeze some more info re: the M18x launch timeframe along with some additional specs - need to see if its truly something worthwhile (personally) atm to holdout for...
  16. that makes two of us then - something is definitely in the works w/14" then! as for the forum - sure 'nuff, will do!
  17. perhaps?!?! thanks - best wishes to the budding new forum! speculation of a 14" alienware been circulating for a while, only time will tell!
  18. something new coming for the middle of alienware's lineup? more here.
