  1. Hi, Finally about to get my Dell 7970m (Alienware M18X M17X 2GB AMD 7970M Official Dell Part Number 747M2 | eBay), I currently have a GTX 260M. As you can see it doesn't come with any backplate brackets, do I follow the instructions here : http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m15x/390-%5Bguide%5D-m15x-amd-6970m-6990m-everything-you-need-know.html I understand that is for the 6970/6990m. So do I need to a ) File down the backplate ? just insulate it from the components as shown. c) Both ? I want to use the backplate from my 260m. Cheers
  2. Got some cheap RAM just put the old ram in another older laptop here, and got 8GB. Really want a 7970. This is my next purchase. I have only had the laptop for a couple of weeks. Cheers
  3. Had a quick look your system is using A09 BIOS, That is what svl9 is using, However I dunno if he is using a modified version of A09 BIOS for overclocking. Cheers
  4. Do you have to use a Alienware / Dell Display Port adapter or will any brand DP adapter be fine ?
  5. I have a similar spec'ed machine. Already installed a small SSD. I am looking at upgrading the Graphics Card First, then maybe the RAM, then buy a 2nd HDD Caddy for it. I am looking at sticking with the 4GB of RAM for now and getting the video card first I am looking at the 7970M. Found a cheap one Also with the RAM, is more better ? Will 8GB be fine ? or should I get 16GB ? I am not made if money, however the 7970 I have lined up is real cheap off a mate. Cheers
  6. I am looking at buying one of these cards to use for my M15x, do you have the details of what you did to get it to work please. Cheers MH
