  1. I flashed the modified 2.0.4 bios two days ago. It didn't fix my screen issue (I have since ordered a replacement LVDS cable to try) but it deffinately didn't give me any ad/malware. Also, in all the reading through this thread that I have done I do not see anybody else complaining about ads after flashing this BIOS mod. It may seem coincidental but my guess is that it somehow got installed prior to your reboot but it didn't manifest until after you restarted with the modified BIOS installed. There are several cleaning utlties available but for what it's worth I have had great luck with Malwarebytes and CCleaner.
  2. I have read a few reviews out and about on the Internet suggesting that the Killer WiFi cards actually make a substantial difference in gaming performance. I'm not sure if the same is true for the LAN but I am looking at upgrading to the Killer WiFi NIC (Granted I also still have a wireless N based router at home since it seems to be plenty sufficient for my needs).
  3. If you can do it, it will be in the BIOS. It may not be an option in the stock BIOS and you may need to flash an unlocked one with advanced features enabled.
  4. Are you still experiencing issues? I have not flashed a whitelist modded bios but when I reloaded Windows 8.1 on my Y400 from scratch, I was having the same issue. I was able to get around this by using a slightly older driver (as thenextTechie suggested) and have not had any issue connecting since.
  5. Correct, the screen is not an OEM replacement. I'm kind of surprised that there would be a whitelist for the screen but then again I suppose it is needed for other components so sounds feasible to me. Do you know if this modded BIOS file whitelists all hardware or just wireless cards?
  6. I am still working to get 5 substantial posts so that I can download this whitelist mod. However, I have also just replaced the screen in my Y400 with a 900p matte AOU one. After doing so, I now have a very faded display (looks as if every other line is white) and it was suggested that re-flashing (a modified?) BIOS may be required. I'm curious if anybody familiar with modding these BIOS files has seen any options in regards to the screen resolution? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
