  1. I got 2900++ with Firestrike, but that wasn't optimum. Somehow the GPU wasn't boosting to max clock, probably due to heat issues. The CPU is dumping too much heat. Meanwhile I re-ran Uningine and 3DMark11, and broke my record again. This time I set the Long Duration Power Limit to only 36W in the BIOS.   2. Temps on my GPU is slightly lower than yours, since I have redone the thermal paste. On the other hand, temp on the CPU reach 100C sometimes. I didn't get a good bin. I will prob change it to a 3840QM. Next week I will be modding an extra heatpipe for the CPU in there.

  5. ^ I will do that later when I get the time. Meanwhile I re-ran the 3Dmark11 because I saw one artifact at the last combined test. I dropped the VRAM by 125MHz and increase the core by 5MHz.   6. Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor,LENOVO INVALID score: P5280 3DMarks. The highest the SLI GPU would ever go is 1269MHz (+210MHz offset), with 1.175Vcore. It's possible that I could squeeze it to 220MHz, but it's getting unstable. I also found out that in 3Dmark11, the laptop eats so much power that it started running on both AC adapter and battery .
  7. It works, thanks. Now I need to figure out the max OC and increase the vcore slightly. Seems like +200MHz offset is the max I can get without increasing voltage. What I don't get is that GPU0 and GPU1 are still showing different voltages.
  8. Hey Svl7, I tried this Lenovo_Y500_BIOS_v2.02_Mod - rev01.zip and the GPU 0 (main GPU) still have the +135MHz OC limit, as shown in EVGA Precision. The Y500 - Y400 - SLI 750m - 80.07.95.00.17 - OC.zip works fine for GPU 1 (secondary SLI GPU). What is weird is that before this GPU0 would go up to 1102MHz, but after flashing I believe it went up to 1189MHz in game. On the other hand, after flashing GPU1 would go above 1200MHz easily. After checking with Nvidia Inspector, both GPU 0 and GPU 1 has the same BIOS (80.07.95.00.17), which says MODIFIED beside it. I have tried re-flashing and GPU0 still wouldn't go above 1189MHz, meanwhile GPU1 went up to 1254MHz stable.
  9. The Y500 I have has an Ultrabay on the right. I took it apart yesterday. It's a full fledge GPU but the PCB's shape is weird, unlike the normal MXM format. There's two heatpipes for each GPU and CPU. The CPU is actually closer to the radiator. The whole think is one big aluminum plate. I don't mind getting the 3632QM, since there's only at most 10% decrease in performance. But I am not entirely sure if the 3632QM would run that much colder. Even at 3.2GHz, according to ThrottleStop the 3630QM is pulling only about 30W. My stolen Acer also idles at about 60C, and it's a 3317U 17W CPU...I guess Ivybridge runs hot. As long as the computer doesn't crash I am fine with higher temp. It's just annoying that the main vent is on the left and sometimes my pinky finger goes over it when I am gaming. And it's HOT. I'm going to flash the modded BIOS and see what settings are there. Finger crossed I don't brick it.
  10. I got my new Y500 with the dual GT750m last week. CPU temp (i7 3630QM) went really high when gaming, for example when playing Source game Dota 2 it was hovering at 90C. I did thermal repaste and tried to screw on the heatsink as tight as I could, and the temp dropped by about 5C on average. Still the idle temp is kinda high at about 60C. On the other hand, the GPU that shares the same heatsink with the CPU only idles at 47C. I am trying to do the BIOS mod, and hopefully there might be some way to undervolt it. Right now I am using ThrottleStop because when CPU and GPU are both under load, the CPU won't higher than 2.4GHz. Using TS, I can make it run at 3.2GHz. - - - Updated - - - Also, do you think that swapping the 45W 3630QM with a 35W 3632QM would help?

I bought this (Amazon.com: Acer TimelineU M5-481TG-6814 14-Inch Ultrabook (Gun Metal Gray): Computers & Accessories), the Acer TimelineU M5 14in from Newegg when it was $650 during Christmas Week in 2012. But now the price has gone up. A few weeks ago my Acer was stolen so I went all out and got the Y500 (IdeaPad Y500 Laptop - Dual Graphics - 59371963 - Dusk Black | Lenovo | (US)). This has dual GT750M in SLI and an Intel 3630QM, with 16GB of RAM. The one I got may be overkill for you, so the single GPU Y500 at $849 should be the one you look at. Choosing between Y400 and Y500 is easy. If you prefer to have full HD 1080p screen, go for the Y500, if not the Y400 with 1366x768 resolution is good enough. With the GT750M in it, it can handle most modern games just fine, prob not at the highest settings but mid high settings is no problem.
  12. I am using ThrottleStop to peg the 3630qm at 3.2GHz when gaming. It doesn't seem like it's possible to OC it on the Lenovo Y500 without a BIOS mod. The problem I have right now is that the CPU is plenty fast, but I want to find a way to undervolt the CPU while maintaining the same clock speed. I could do this with my old C2D T9500, but not the newer Ivybridge 3630qm. If anyone knows how to undervolt it, please PM me.
  13. Logitech G9X. It has adjustable 6 adjustable DPI levels. Back in the days when I was using desktop I was running 5000 DPI, nowadays on laptop I only use 3000 DPI.
  14. Tried Nvidia, then AMD, then went back to Nvidia. Although AMD are usually slightly more competitively priced, the not so good drivers support cripple them.
  15. First I'd like to say Hi, and thanks for working on the modded BIOS. I have a the Intel 6235 wifi card coming and I was hoping that Lenovo wouldn't have any whitelist or blacklist. I'd like to try out the modded BIOS for the 750m. I have the SLI version of Y500. Then again Nvidia hasn't officially released the driver for 750m and I am getting some really bad stuttering in some games so I had to run on one GPU. So far, even with the +135MHz limit, the GPU happily boost up to 1102 MHz all the time. I have a question, would the modded BIOS enables me to undervolt the 3630QM cpu?
