  2. Thanks @goalque! I only got around to trying out your new version! - I installed it with a clean install of 10.10.5 with success, using the HDMI monitor of my monitor for the first time (as what I've learned). I shut it down and it booted with the DisplayPort 4k60 works as usual. - I still had the same issue with it not being able to detect the eGPU after each boot after, but I was able to fix this issue by resetting the PRAM and reinstalling the script as I used to. The only thing now is that if I do this the -a mode doesn't work when I restart my computer. I've also noticed something about this subsequent boot issue. Every time I reinstall the script, I will get an eGPU output to my monitor every time if I haven't used anything that would require the computer switching to the dGPU if there wasn't an eGPU (i.e. graphically intensive programs like games). So if I only used Safari to visit TechInferno and restarted the computer I would get eGPU output again but I play a game or use Photoshop when I boot up the computer again the bar under the Apple logo during bootup will pause way before it should and I will neither get an eGPU output nor be able to go on "About My Mac" (and I won't be able to shut down if I do that either). For everyone else's reference, I am using a Late 2013 15" MBP with the 750M dGPU, an EVGA Titan X and a Sonnet III-D.

  3. I couldn't find anything on this and I'm really new to this so forgive me if this is common knowledge I got an eGPU setup within the week and have been messing with it on my Sager NP5165 / Clevo W150HRM laptop, I also got eGPU Setup 1.30 I noticed that the setting enable x2 mode didnt work for my laptop or any Series 6 chipset in general because this was controlled by something called the "Flash Descriptor" Didn't even know this existed So I did some research and everything that came up said it couldn't be done or not without doing some form of "hard core hacking of the bios" whatever that means but regardless I couldn't find anything on how to enable this feature I downloaded FPTw64.exe and dumped my bios I opened the bios in FITC.exe version 7.1.20.1119 because from my understanding other versions will give an error upon opening the bios I navigated to PCH Strap 9 and modified the PCIe setting to allow x2 I built the bios but an error was spit out and the file was no good... Opening the file in UEFITool.exe showed that some offsets were changed, attempting to flash the resulting file didnt work So I dumped my Descriptor region with FPTw64.exe "FPTw64.exe -d Dec.bin -Desc" and compared it with my built bios using HxD hex editor The first time I did this there were 17 discrepancies, so I went through each and every one to see what they did Ultimately I narrowed it down to one hexadecimal that controlled the PCIe x2 settings I saved the hex change, opened the file in FITC.exe and sure enough the setting was set to PCIe x2 I used FPTw64.exe to flash the Descriptor region using "FPTw64.exe -f [FILENAME].bin -Desc" The flash was successful except my keyboard stopped working so I had to hard reset Rebooting into eGPU Setup 1.30 showed the change worked Although my understanding is this settings does nothing for me since my laptop is only equipped with a single PCIe x1 port Also my computer has USB 3.0 set to port 2 and ethernet set to port 4 so flashing the modified descriptor region disabled those on my laptop Reverting my Descriptor region required me to use MESET.exe to unlock my flash descriptor to flash back, which is weird because I didn't have to use it the first time I hope this helps someone with a Series 6 chipset who can actually utilize it

  6. I would have to agree I was preparing my m18x r1 to go to Windows 10 but after the update I got 8 beeps. I get 8 beeps with my gpu installed or trying on IGFX only. So it fried my LCD screen so there went another $250 and hopefully my 780m is ok. Even though you have a m18 i would wait till it gets all sorted out or it could get very expensive if you dont have a warranty Check out this thread for more info *** Windows 10 Upgrade Warning for Alienware Owners *** | Page 58 | NotebookReview

  7. Shouldn't be a problem, though when I made the switch I went with the 780's instead as there were more reported issues with the 800 series cards. Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk

  8. Yeah I did. Just got back from a little trip so I haven't been active on the forums. Got the 2960XM with 780 SLI. It runs cool enough, and didn't have any issues when I put the parts in. However after playing Far Cry 4 for a little while sometimes the power supply will kick off, and sometimes the game will just crash. I had thought this may have been due to the dodgy overseas power at the time but came back and my machines still doing it. I think the cards and chip may be to much for the power supply when being pushed, though it's funny to note that this doesn't happen in 3D Mark. Also the cards run pretty cool showing 75 deg temps at load with the fans running at about mid-range.

  9. Never had this issue with mine. I'm afraid that your GPU might be dying. If you had GPU issues even before the disassembly it's pretty it's dead. Maybe try to downgrade bios and possibly install unlocked bios from techinferno and try to downclocl your video card. I don't know. Maybe go to some well known service center that you can trust...
